fix(opencode): decode compaction history from OpenCode 2.1 - #22661
OpenCode 2.1.2 omits the top-level recent field on compactions. T3’s bundled 2.0.28 client requires it, so decoding history aborts rollback before the revert request. Fixes #22656.
Change
Normalize successful history-page responses at the provider boundary: running/completed compactions missing recent receive the legacy metadata.recent string, or an empty string for native 2.1 compactions. T3 does not consume that field. Present fields retain their validation, and pagination is preserved. No dependency update.
On 4f651cb10d, a real isolated @opencode/cli@2.1.2 server returned HTTP 200 for a naturally compacted session, but the unchanged provider client failed at data[3].recent. At b2c65dcc8a, that history decodes. Through the running T3 dev server, importing the native session, sending a turn, and rolling back to checkpoint zero succeeded on the first attempt; OpenCode logged revert.stage and revert.commit.

Validation: nine focused client tests, provider package typecheck, and lint on touched files pass. Both independent reviews approve the final head. Proof audit pass 2: SUFFICIENT: 52 independently replayed records with zero semantic differences; manifest hashes match.
Unverified execution: desktop/Electron, Android, iOS, relay/tunnel. This change is confined to the shared server provider adapter; no platform-specific implementation or UI changed. File restoration was disabled in the rollback reproduction.
Evidence matrix: pass 1. The stale-description and prior-head legacy findings in pass 1 have been corrected.
Provider stage and commit; compaction retained and new T3 user messages removed in the linked result
No UI render paths changed, so viewport/theme/pixel diffs are inapplicable. What else changed: successful history responses are reserialized, stale content-length is removed, and other envelope fields retain their semantic values. Failed and unrelated requests keep their existing path.
Functional captures: 16-row evidence index, exact-head manifest, scripts, fixtures and results. Nine tests and 30 semantic assertions pass. The index’s pending final rollback boundaries and prior-head legacy note are superseded by the exact-head dev-server results above. Unexecuted unchanged guard variants and multi-page pagination are explicitly source-reviewed rather than experimentally claimed.

OpenCode 2.1 moved a compaction message's `recent` under `metadata`, while
the bundled 2.0.28 client schema still requires it at the top level, so any
session history containing a compaction failed to decode and rollback could
not read the thread before reverting.
The client now lifts `metadata.recent` to the top level on message-list
pages before the generated schema sees them. Legacy top-level payloads pass
through unchanged, and a compaction with no `recent` anywhere still fails.

Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — Restores OpenCode 2.1 compaction-history decoding by supplying a missing compatibility field while preserving downstream validation. The change is confined to successful history responses and does not alter stored data or rollback policy.

@opencode/schema 2.1.2 removed `recent` from running and completed
compactions; only migrated pre-2.1 compactions keep it under
`metadata.recent`, and native ones carry `metadata.keepID` or no metadata.
The shim now fills the field the bundled 2.0.28 schema still requires
only when it is absent, from `metadata.recent` when that is a string and
otherwise with an empty string T3 never reads. A present `recent` of any
value and every other field are still validated by the real schema.

The OpenCode client now normalizes missing compaction recent values in successful session message-list responses. Tests cover native, legacy, and top-level formats, message order, and schema validation errors.

Summary
Normalize compaction records packages/provider-opencode/src/server/v2/OpenCode2Client.ts, packages/provider-opencode/src/server/v2/OpenCode2Client.test.ts
The client fills missing recent values from string metadata.recent or "" for running and completed compactions. It removes the original content-length header when rebuilding transformed responses and wires the transformed client into OpenCode.make. Tests cover supported field formats, message order, and invalid recent or reason schema errors.

Explanation
Linked issue #22656 is the only direct target. Its coding requirement: rollback must succeed on OpenCode 2.1.2 when history contains completed compactions. Current error: SchemaError Missing key at data[89].recent. The whole-PR diff (merge base da8cc59 to head 4d11d8e) closes this gap in packages/provider-opencode/src/server/v2/OpenCode2Client.ts. The new fillCompactionRecents HttpClient.transformResponse wraps the authenticated client that OpenCode.make uses. For successful GET responses to /api/session/{id}/message, it decodes the page shape and fills a missing recent on running or completed compaction messages. The value is metadata.recent when that is a string, otherwise an empty string. Present recent values are not changed, so their validation stays downstream. Non-200, non-GET, non-matching URL, and unparseable page responses return the original response. The filled body drops the stale content-length header. The test file adds nine message-history cases through client.message.list. They cover running and completed compactions with native keepID, native without metadata, legacy metadata, and top-level recent. They also check that a non-string recent or an invalid reason yields a ClientError with a SchemaError cause. The fix targets the decode step the issue names. I did not inspect the external rollback logs or the 90-message fixture cited in the PR description. The code path and automated tests alone support the verdict.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
All changes lie in two files under packages/provider-opencode/src/server/v2: OpenCode2Client.ts and its test file OpenCode2Client.test.ts. The provider client is the server-side layer that issues the message-history request the issue reports. The test imports (Session from @opencode/client/effect, Schema) support the new tests. The reserialization and content-length removal are required because the filled body length changes. No dependency, UI, platform, or unrelated provider code changed in the whole-PR diff. The PR description states that no dependency update was made. Nothing in the diff is unconnected to issue #22656.

OpenCode 2.1 dropped the required recent field from compaction records,
so forks, side chats and checkpoint restore failed on compacted sessions.
This pulls upstream's open fix early; keep upstream's version once it
merges.

CVE-2026-111497 is an out-of-bounds write in brotli's decoder (1.0.3 to
1.2.0) that permits remote code execution. Magnesium carried it three ways:
- OpenCode 2.0.32 bundles Bun 1.4.2, whose fetch and webfetch decode brotli
from any server. OpenCode 2.1.4 bundles the fixed Bun 1.4.4. The role and
the image move to it, checked against npm's published sha512.
- The image's git uses Debian's libbrotli1. The final stage now takes
Debian's security fixes and checks libbrotli1 is 1.0.9-2+deb12u1 or newer,
since a builder's cached apt layer kept the old one.
- The portable git that attached pods carry used EL8's brotli 1.0.6, which
has no fix yet. The bundle now builds brotli 1.0.10 from source, and the
build fails if git's copy is older.
OpenCode 2.1 drops a compaction's `recent` field, which the bundled 2.0.28
client requires, so rolling back a compacted thread failed. Upstream's open
fix (pingdotgg#22661) is ported, marked, and logged in upstream-changelog.md. The live
client and server tests pass against 2.1.4: one real turn, its event stream
and its history.
The role also restarts the server when it installs a new OpenCode, as it now
does for Node, so the old OpenCode server doesn't keep running.

Return unchanged history pages without reserializing them.
When a page has no compaction missing recent, Line 191 still serializes the entire page and creates a replacement response. This adds allocation and work to ordinary history requests, including paginated requests. Return the cached original response when no message changes.

Update the history-page handling around fillCompactionRecent to detect whether
any message changed; when none did, return the original cached page response
instead of calling encodePage or creating a replacement response, while
preserving reserialization for changed pages.

Add a next-cursor case so the history wrapper's pagination metadata is tested.
Add a next-cursor case so the history wrapper's pagination metadata is tested.
Every listHistory response in this file uses cursor: {}, so no test sends a cursor.next value through fillCompactionRecents. The rewrite re-encodes every successful message.list body. A regression that drops cursor in that path would not fail any test. The history reader at adapter.ts:2913 uses OpenCode2Client.paginate, which stops when cursor.next is undefined, so a dropped cursor would truncate history after the first page.
Add one case to the existing it.effect.each table, or give listHistory an optional cursor argument. Return a non-empty cursor.next and assert that client.message.list returns that same cursor.next with the page data.

Update the listHistory test helper or its existing it.effect.each table to
include a response with a non-empty cursor.next, then assert client.message.list
preserves that cursor alongside the page data. Keep the existing empty-cursor
cases intact.
