ApprovabilityVerdict: Needs Human Approval Macroscope's review found this PR requires human approval — This PR adds a new Expo/EAS simulator integration with credential fallback, secret-store handling, and device-session tokens, alongside substantial project configuration parsing. It also changes static-analysis configuration to suppress diagnostics for generated files, so the security and review-policy impact warrants human review. … machine The slow cases they guard against take minutes. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…naming an unknown project Each entry is read against the rest of the file, so a file just under the size bound with thousands of entries still took seconds. An app config mentions its project a few times at most; one with more than 32 mentions names an unknown project, at once. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
`Object.assign` split across lines, or a helper named assign, replaced the project id after the entry without being seen. Space may now sit around the member access, and any call named assign counts. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ject unknown `Object.assign(defaults, overrides)` names the call before both arguments, so one written before the entry escaped a check of the text after it. An assignment anywhere in the config now makes the project unknown; a spread still counts only after the entry. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…makes it unknown A dynamic config that names no id itself runs after app.json's entry, so spreading anything but the config Expo hands it may replace that entry; such a config's project is unknown. Spreading the config itself and its parts still reads app.json's id. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
A comment or nested parentheses between `...` and another file hid the spread from the check, so such a config read app.json's project id although the other file may replace it. Every spread in a config that names no id must now be shown to spread `config`; anything else makes the project unknown. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…S one The check that a config spreads only `config` was skipped once the config named any quoted projectId, so a Firebase one beside a spread of another file let that file replace app.json's EAS id unseen. The check is skipped only when the config names an EAS id of its own. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…amic config as Expo does The spread check rescanned from every `...`, including those inside a comment it had already skipped, which was quadratic on a comment made for it. The scan now moves through the file once. A dynamic config that spreads nothing is used by Expo on its own, so app.json's project id names nothing for that app. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…json's EAS project id Such a config may return the config Expo hands it, changed, so app.json's entry is not shown unused; its project is unknown rather than none, and a sibling app's project cannot win. `config` followed by more of an identifier (`config$`) is another identifier. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
… a replaced extra Expo's own message is the reason the user acts on, but nothing promises it never echoes a request: the credential is now cut out of it and it is bounded to 300 characters (review, Macroscope). A dynamic config that spreads the config Expo hands it but then sets `extra` or `eas` to something that does not start by spreading the config's own replaces app.json's project id, so its project is unknown. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…er file, and keep Expo's status A config that names an id may still return another file's config on some builds, or assign over the object holding the id, from somewhere the scan cannot read: an assignment to `.extra`/`.eas`, or a require or dynamic import, makes the project unknown (review, CodeRabbit). `ExpoApiError` keeps the HTTP status Expo answered with, so callers can name a rejected credential without forwarding Expo's text. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
So a caller can name a rejected credential without forwarding Expo's text. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…t id too Review (Macroscope): the key may be quoted. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

The repository rules forbid passing service dependencies as parameters. With this signature, neither the type ofmakeExpoApinor the type of its callers shows that anHttpClientis required.credentialis per-call configuration, so it can stay a parameter. The

… app.json's EAS project id too
`{ ...config, extra }`, `["extra"]: {}` and `c["extra"] = ...` make the
project unknown, as the dotted and bare forms already did, and a config
with more extra/eas entries than mentions are read is unknown at once
(review, CodeRabbit and Macroscope).
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ly by spreading that same entry
`extra: { ...config }` spreads the whole config under extra, so the id
is elsewhere; `extra: { ...config.extra }` and `eas: { ...config.extra.eas }`
(dotted, optional or in brackets, and nothing more of them) keep it
(review, Macroscope).

`...config?.["extra"]` and `...(config.extra?.eas ?? {})` keep app.json's

…o carry app.json's EAS project id `...config.extra.preview` or `...config.preview` at the top is not the config Expo handed it, so the project is unknown; a spread of `config.extra` or `config.extra.eas` keeps the id wherever it lands, so it stays neutral (review, Macroscope). The server pieces an EAS Simulator device host needs, with no host yet.
Credentials, in the order the GitHub integration uses:
secretSetting, kept in the secret store and redacted for clients;EXPO_TOKEN;eas login/expo loginkeeps in~/.expo/state.json.No Expo CLI is needed. A credential that is not printable ASCII (the redacted placeholder after a failed secret read, a pasted newline) is refused with a message naming its source, never sent.
expo-sessionjoins the redacted header names.ExpoApi: a client for the Expo GraphQL operations eas-cli'ssimulator:*commands use: the signed-in account and its apps, simulator access, and starting, reading, listing and stopping sessions. It is generated witheffect/graphql, the same way as the GitHub client:apps/server/schema/expo.graphqlis api.expo.dev's schema, read by introspection (which Expo allows without a credential; eas-cli generates from the same endpoint).vp run generate:expo-schemarefreshes it.src/device/ExpoApi.graphql;vp run generatewritesExpoApi.graphql.ts, and CI checks it is current.Redacted.EAS project lookup: reads the literal
projectIda workspace's app config names, andextra.eas.projectIdfrom the first ofapp.config.jsonandapp.json(wrapped inexpoor not, as Expo accepts both; one Expo reads as JSON5 that is not JSON makes the project unknown), at the root or one app directory underapps/orpackages/. It never runs the config: that is the project's own code, which an agent may have written. The config's text is taken as it is, comments included, and every mention ofprojectIdin it must be an entry whose whole value is one quoted string (a quoted id that is not a UUID, such as Firebase's, names no EAS project); a config that sets or later changes it from a variable, may replace it with a spread after it (anywhere, at any depth) or an assignment over the config anywhere (Object.assign, or a helper named assign), assigns to.extra/.eas(dotted or in brackets), deletes anything, or requires or imports another file (which may replace the object holding the id, or the whole config), names two projects, or is there but cannot be read makes the app's project unknown. A dynamic config's id and app.json's must agree, since the config may replace it only on some builds; a dynamic config that names no EAS id (another service's does not count) carries app.json's through only when it is shown to spread the config Expo hands it and nothing else but its ownextraorextra.eas, which keep the id wherever they land (read past comments and parentheses after the...;config$,config.previewandconfig.extra.previeware other things); one that spreads anything else, or nothing at all, may replace or drop it, so its project is unknown too; so does one with anextra/easentry (bare, quoted, computed or shorthand) whose value does not start by spreading that same entry of the config (config.extra,config.extra.eas; spreading the whole config there puts the id elsewhere), or with more such entries than are read. If any app is unknown or apps disagree, it returns nothing rather than guessing.Part of built-in EAS Simulator support (stack #21847). Layer 4 of 6.

EXPO_TOKENwithout echoing them.ExpoApi: sending the credential, decoding a ready session, keeping the credential out of errors when Expo is unreachable, turning GraphQL errors (including a captured Expo refusal) and rejected credentials into readable messages, keeping the HTTP status Expo answered with, and marking which errors mean Expo refused (a 4xx, or GraphQL errors below 500 that are all the user's fault and not transient, with nodataor null data: how Expo answers a refusal, with Apollo's default code ignored) and which may have run (unreachable, a 5xx, errors beside non-nulldata, or errors Expo marks transient, internal, or as any type but the user's, as eas-cli reads them).projectIdbeside the EAS one does not, an old id in a comment makes the answer ambiguous, a"**/*"glob does not hide the id, a config naming two projects gives no answer even withapp.json, a config naming a project only some builds use disagrees withapp.json, an unreadableapp.jsonorapp.config.jsongives no answer, so does one with a comment, only the first static config counts, an id built in a template or joined from pieces (on one line, across lines ending in any line terminator, or around a comment, even one holding a separator) gives no answer, a spread after the id (in its object, in an enclosing object, or hidden behind a comment) or an assignment over the config anywhere (Object.assign however it is written, before or after the entry, or a helper named assign) gives no answer while spreads before it are fine, a config that spreads another file over app.json's id gives no answer while one that only spreads the config itself reads it, a long comment is handled at once, a config over 256 KB or with more than 32 mentions of projectId is unknown at once, one a comment follows is read, an unwrapped static config is read and does not get guessed between with a wrapped one, a README beside the apps is not an app,app.config.json,app.json, and disagreeing apps.eas loginsession (read-only, temporary test).Done with Claude Opus 5.5 in Claude Code, running in T3 Code.
