The Queued messages section of docs/user/composer.md always said Enter steers and Cmd/Ctrl+Enter queues. That is reversed under the default Follow-up behavior (Queue), so a user following it steers the running turn when they meant to queue. The "Send while the agent is working" section of the same file already describes it correctly.

This rewrites only that section's first paragraph: the button shows the icon for the configured action, Enter or a click uses it, and holding Cmd/Ctrl or pressing Cmd/Ctrl+Enter uses the opposite action. This follows resolveComposerDispatchMode (packages/client-runtime/src/state/composerDispatch.ts), the queue default in packages/contracts/src/settings.ts, and the icon logic in ComposerPrimaryActions.tsx.

Why this is a small, focused fix for an obvious bug (CONTRIBUTING.md): one paragraph in one user doc that contradicts both the code and another section of the same file. No product behavior, default or keybinding changes.

Verification: traced the code paths above; vp fmt --check docs/user/composer.md passes. Docs-only, so no client was run.

Fixes #19773

🤖 Generated with Claude Code (Claude Sonnet 5.5, in T3 Code)

The Queued messages section always described Enter as steering and
Cmd/Ctrl+Enter as queueing, which is reversed under the default
Follow-up behavior (Queue). Describe the configured action and the
modifier's opposite action instead, matching "Send while the agent is
working".

Before / after behavior

  • observed — Modified behavior in docs/user/composer.md: The instructions replace the fixed Steer default and modifier-to-Queue behavior with a button action determined by the configured follow-up behavior. Queue sends after the active turn; Steer sends into it. Holding Cmd or Ctrl switches to the opposite action, usable by click or modifier-plus-Enter.

Enter depends on Settings -> General -> Send shortcut, and Cmd/Ctrl+Enter is the remappable Composer: Opposite Queue or Steer Action binding. Link to the keybindings docs instead of repeating them.

Thanks for this. I'm closing it as part of PR triage. Right now we're only taking focused bug fixes from outside contributors (see Read this first), and this PR is not one.

From the review: This changes only the queued-message documentation for follow-up behavior and modifier shortcuts. Documentation-only changes need maintainer agreement first.

If you think this was a mistake, message me on Twitter at @maria_rcks and I'll take another look.
