…n on a duplicate turn ordinal Calling the Task tool again for an existing child session replaced the child's adapter state, resetting its turn ordinal to 1. The resumed turn then collided with the child's first turn on the provider-turn unique index and failed the parent run. Reuse the tracked child state instead, repointing it at the new Task call. Fixes pingdotgg#19883
ApprovabilityVerdict: Approved at Macroscope's review found this PR approvable — This is a narrowly scoped OpenCode adapter bug fix that preserves child-session state so resumed turns receive unique ordinals, with a focused regression test covering the behavior. It introduces no schema, deployment, product-default, security, or static-analysis changes. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

Taking over this one. I’ll reduce the tests to the useful coverage, update the implementation against current main, and verify it before publishing the changes. |
Register the Task child session through registerThread instead of a fresh state literal, so a later Task call with the same task_id reuses the tracked child state and its next ordinal. Only the parent subagent context is repointed at the new Task call. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Problem
Resuming an existing OpenCode subagent can assign its next turn ordinal 1 again, violating the projection’s unique constraint and failing the parent turn.
Change
Reuse the existing thread-registration helper when a later Task invocation resumes a child. Keep its turn counter and message bookkeeping, and update the parent Task context without replacing the child state.
Scope and approval
This is a maintainer-requested takeover of the focused OpenCode adapter bug fix. Refs #19883. Based on the original work by @lageorgem.
This covers repeated Task calls in the same running adapter. Restoring ordinals after an adapter restart remains outside this change.
Verification
50 adapter tests pass, including one retained regression that drives two Task calls against the same child session and checks ordinals
[1, 2], distinct turn IDs, and one provider thread. The pre-fix adapter produces[1, 1]and fails the regression. Scoped format, lint, and provider-opencode typecheck pass; lint retains an existing unused-variable warning. No live OpenCode session was run. The focused adapter behavior test is the verification for this nonvisual change.
Independent Opus and Sol full-diff reviews and the maintainer’s final source pass found no code issues. Current-head CI will run after publication; historical CI includes a failure in the unrelated server secret-store concurrency test.
