fix(web): report browser profiles only to connected environments - #18150

…e per change The reporter re-sent profiles to every environment with a cached config whenever any session or config changed, including disconnected ones: 500+ failed requests in one user's traces. It now reports to connected environments when the report or config changed, and retries a failed report. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Forgetting a failed report did not re-run the effect, so it stayed unsent until unrelated state changed. A failure now schedules up to three retries with growing delays, cleared on unmount and reset on disconnect. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — This production change alters browser-profile synchronization by filtering environments, deduplicating reports, and adding retry and lifecycle state. Although narrowly scoped and well tested, the new asynchronous state machine materially increases runtime complexity, and the unresolved medium-severity retry finding remains an approval blocker. Adjust the Minimum Blocking Severity for this repo — including turning it Off — in Settings. You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Learn more. |

- Line 84: Update reportChanged to enforce a per-entry next-eligible retry time
before resending failed reports, even when the tuple is unchanged. Track retry
eligibility separately for each environment and schedule the next shared sweep
for the earliest eligible entry, preserving the bounded retry budget without
allowing early calls to consume it.

Effect reruns from connection or session churn resent failed reports immediately, burning the retry budget before any backoff. Each failed report now records when it may retry, every sweep honors it, and one timer is armed for the earliest waiting report. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Note Written by Thanks for addressing disconnected profile reporting. The retry scheduler retains a failed report after preview permission or server-browser capability disappears, then repeatedly schedules its expired retry at zero delay. This needs correction and focused behavioral evidence under our verification requirement before reconsideration. Please invalidate ineligible retry entries and cover that transition; an issue can preserve the disconnected-reporting defect. |
BrowserProfileReporter sent profile updates to disconnected environments whenever cached server configuration or session state changed, producing repeated failed preview.reportProfiles calls.
Report only to connected, authorized environments with server-browser capability. Skip unchanged report tuples, re-report after reconnect/config changes, and retry eligible failures up to three times per environment and report tuple with increasing delays. Pending completions are invalidated on unmount so they cannot schedule stale reports.
Replaces #18148, which was closed for missing behavioral verification. This submission includes focused regression tests for disconnected environments, reconnects, retries, interruption, and unmount/Strict Mode lifecycle behavior. It also fixes both retry-budget and post-unmount findings from the previous review.
Scope and approval
Split from #17871 following Julius's one-problem review. This PR contains only browser-profile synchronization. Submitted as a focused correction to an existing background reporting path, without changing profile selection or adding a new workflow. The split request is not a claim of implementation approval.
Verification
vp test run apps/web/src/browser/BrowserProfileReporter.test.tsx: 7 behavioral tests passed. Coverage includes exhausted retry budgets across multiple environments, fresh budgets for changed settings, late failure after unmount, successful deduplication/reconnect, cached configurations for disconnected environments, interrupted reports without automatic retries, and stale completions across React Strict Mode effect lifecycles.vp run --filter @t3tools/web typecheck: passed.git diff --check: passed.Split and verified with GPT-6.1-sol in the Codex harness, running in T3 Code.
