track the previous text and caret position, and allow the active query range to
grow past previous.rangeEnd only when the edit extends that query. Stop
continuation when the caret moves into existing same-line prose, preserving the
correct replacement range for the web composer and search range for the mobile
picker.

Rebased this onto current The refresh preserves the newer literal-answer handling and mobile workspace command-discovery retry tests. All 147 focused tests pass, along with web/shared/mobile typechecks, formatting, and I refreshed the PR description with these results. The existing browser recordings are from 3 October; I could not rerun browser interaction here because the repository-required T3 Browser panel tools are unavailable in this session. Native mobile and the Electron shell were not rerun separately. |

The fix and subsequent rebase were both done with GPT-6.1 Sol. The “GPT-6” attribution in the PR description was incorrect. Could you reconsider? |

Typing a space in an active
@search closes the picker, even when matching file paths or thread titles contain spaces. Keep the active query across spaces so users can refine a multi-word name and accept it with Enter.Fixes #15156.
The shared helper continues only an existing path trigger, tracking the previous prompt and query range. It allows edits within the query while preserving the surrounding text; moving the caret into existing prose closes the search before keyboard selection can replace that prose. Web/desktop use it while typing and when resolving keyboard selection; mobile uses it in the existing shared new-task/thread picker. Selecting a result, leaving the query, or crossing a newline/tab ends continuation. Web Escape dismissal remains effective across the rest of the multi-word query. Existing command/skill/PR triggers retain their detection rules.
This is submitted under the focused obvious-bug exception in CONTRIBUTING.md: spaced paths already serialize correctly and both file and thread matchers accept spaces; the active trigger loses its boundary before the existing matchers can receive the query. No contracts, server search behavior, provider routing, or reference serialization change.
