ApprovabilityVerdict: Not approved Macroscope's review found this PR not approvable — The PR adds a new keyboard-accessible user capability and changes shared thread visit-state handling to keep manually marked threads unread. Although the command is off by default and covered by tests, the shared production-path behavior warrants human review. No code changes detected at You can add or adjust custom eligibility rules. Note Written by Thanks for wiring the existing action into keybindings and checking unread persistence. Right now we are only taking focused bug fixes from outside contributors under Read this first. This PR adds the unbound thread.markUnread command, which is outside that scope even though it reuses an existing action. Please submit the unread-reset fix separately for reconsideration and keep the shortcut proposal in the linked Ideas discussion. |
Problem
Mark unread is available from a thread's menu but cannot be assigned a keyboard shortcut. Keyboard users should be able to invoke the same action for the active thread.
Change
Add the unbound
thread.markUnreadcommand for web and the desktop wrapper. The handler beside pin/settle inChatViewcalls the sidebar's existinguseThreadActions().markThreadUnread, including V2 server synchronization and the older-server fallback. Without a completed run, it leaves the key event alone.V2 verification found that the first mark-unread on an already-read mount could immediately reset. Remembering that mount and applying the same visit guard to the older-server fallback keeps manual unread sticky. Tests cover custom binding resolution, Settings discovery, and no default binding. User docs explain assignment and
!terminalFocus.Scope and approval
Rebuilt on current main following Julius's request on #12216 after the V2 rewrite. Original proposal: Ideas #10723.
This configures access to the existing Mark unread capability; it does not change default shortcuts or add a navigation workflow. No mobile changes. I understand this may still be closed or deferred.
Verification
vp test run apps/web/src/keybindings.test.ts apps/web/src/components/settings/KeybindingsSettings.logic.test.ts packages/contracts/src/keybindings.test.ts: 170 tests passed.vp run --filter @t3tools/web typecheck, targeted lint and formatting passed. Existing ChatView lint warnings remain.!terminalFocusin Settings, and invoke it while the composer is focused. The Done marker appears and stays while typing. Repeated presses preserve it; reopening clears it. An empty thread leaves default handling and propagation intact. Terminal focus excludes the shortcut. A fresh browser context sees the server-side unread marker. Context-menu marking was checked too.Short V2 recording
