The actionable cleanup finding is fixed in 201eb13 with a regression test. I am leaving the automated docstring-coverage warning unchanged: AGENTS.md asks for comments that explain usage or non-obvious constraints and discourages documentation that restates code. Adding docstrings solely to meet the percentage would conflict with that guidance. |
`build-exe` rejected the bundle because CuaDriver reached the SDK through `import()`, which cannot load file-backed modules inside a Node SEA. Load it through createRequire like node-pty and fff-node; the package only exposes an `import` export condition, so resolve its directory and require the entry file by absolute path. The web build also failed on third-party license generation because @trycua/cua-driver and @ubjs/* ship no notice file; add repository overrides for both upstreams. Verified by building the linux-x64 CLI archive and running Codex with the managed Cua MCP against a headless Xvfb display. Claude Fable 5 via Claude Code. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Drop the promise wrapper and node:fs/node:path usage from the SDK loader. The loader is now a lazy Effect.fn over FileSystem and Path, fails with CuaDriverSdkLoadError directly, and the standalone factory takes it as a plain Effect so tests inject Effect.succeed / Effect.fail instead of async thunks. createRequire stays because it is the only way a single-executable reaches a file-backed package. Cua injection lived inside the Codex adapter, so only Codex sessions got computer use. ProviderService now acquires the managed driver once per session and records its MCP descriptor beside the T3 credential; each adapter maps that descriptor onto its own stdio MCP shape. Codex keeps its user-configuration precedence check but no longer owns the driver. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Turning on Cua computer use only wrote a setting; the macOS permission prompts appeared on the next agent session, if at all. On the desktop that owns the environment, the switch now opens a permission checklist for Accessibility and Screen Recording, built on the same system permission IPC the Safari import uses, and only turns on once both are granted. Other clients enable it and point to the host. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The SDK resolves its native library relative to its own module file and dlopens it, which fails with ENOTDIR inside app.asar. Electron only redirects .node addons to the unpacked tree. Import the SDK entry points from app.asar.unpacked in a packaged app and unpack the SDK packages on every platform so the resolver finds real files. | **Cua computer use** lets agents control the machine running your T3 Code server | ||

| on immediately, but you still have to grant those permissions to T3 Code on the host. | ||
|
|
||
| Packaged T3 Code desktop includes Cua Driver. For a standalone server, set | ||
| `T3CODE_CUA_DRIVER_PATH` to the absolute path of your Cua Driver executable before | ||

macOS caches TCC answers per process. A driver host started before the user granted Accessibility and Screen Recording kept reporting them as denied for the rest of the app session. Finishing the permission dialog now stops the running host and reports it to the server, so the next agent session starts a driver that sees the new grants. Cua tool calls rendered as raw MCP names such as mcp__cua-driver__click. A shared presentation module now maps them to the same computer surface Codex uses: a human title, the target app's icon, and a computer source. Cua addresses apps by pid, so the module learns pid-to-app mappings from list_apps, list_windows, and launch_app results. Claude, Codex, OpenCode, and the ACP adapters attach the presentation to their item events. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Typing @ then an app name lists installed apps beside files while Cua computer use is on for the environment. Picking one inserts an app chip whose reference encodes the bundle id, so the record is rebuilt at send time without a new draft store. The provider sees the app name, bundle id, and how to reach it with the cua-driver tools. The server lists apps through Spotlight on macOS and reports unsupported elsewhere. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
…ered Clients label a work row by its detail before its title. Claude, OpenCode, and the ACP adapters filled detail with the raw request or output, so Cua rows still read as mcp__cua-driver__click. Those rows now omit detail and keep the call in the expanded body. Muted rows also darkened full-color app icons with a brightness filter meant for glyphs; images keep only the opacity. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The Cua switch records intent, but nothing reported whether the host could act. The driver now remembers why its last start failed until one succeeds, and the apps list reports that so no client offers apps a denied host cannot drive. On the desktop that owns the environment, the settings row warns when Accessibility or Screen Recording is missing and the @ palette hides apps until both are granted. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Claude streams tool input in deltas; the update that carries the final input still attached the raw request summary, so most rows fell back to mcp__cua-driver__click. That emit site now uses the shared presentation too. Calls that address a window by element token carry no pid, so they now resolve to the app the thread last touched instead of a generic mark. The title table covers all 58 driver tools, pinned by a test. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Agents escalated to foreground delivery and left the user's windows open, which steals focus and hides the thread they were watching. Attach a short computer_use block to the runtime instructions of every provider whose session actually has the managed cua-driver MCP server: keep the background default, escalate only after a background action reports it did not land, capture with get_window_state instead of bring_to_front, and restore the desktop when done. Codex derives the flag from its app-server args like the browser and device blocks; the other adapters read the session's Cua descriptor. Claude Fable 5 via Claude Code. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
Users driving Cua in background mode could not see what the agent was doing; the screenshots it took stayed inside the provider's tool result and the wire projection dropped them. Ingestion now writes the image from a completed computer-use tool result to the browser-artifacts directory and attaches its path, plus the window title, to the activity, which both clients already render as a viewed image on the work-log row. The web client also floats the newest capture in the preview mini player, refreshed as the agent keeps looking, with the app icon and window title as caption. Closing the card is remembered until the next capture; a browser or device float the agent already has keeps its place. Claude Fable 5 via Claude Code. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The 0.24.0 SDK only exposed window capture through untyped callTool. 0.28.1 adds typed listWindows, listApps, and getWindowState, which the window preview needs. Update the release archive pins and checksums for every platform to match; the archive layouts are unchanged. Claude Fable 5 via Claude Code. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
The floating computer-use card only refreshed when the agent chose to look, so long stretches of clicking and typing showed a stale frame. Both host paths now report the daemon's socket beside the MCP descriptor, and a CuaWindowPreview service attaches its own typed SDK client to it. While a turn is running and at least one client subscribes to the thread's preview, it captures the window the agent last targeted (falling back to the desktop) every 1.5 seconds with the accessibility walk skipped, and pushes small frames over the app WebSocket. The loop stops, and the native handle is released, as soon as the turn ends or the last subscriber leaves, so a closed card costs the host nothing. The web card prefers the live frame and keeps the agent's last screenshot between turns. Claude Fable 5 via Claude Code. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

Unmounting useCuaWindowPreview leaks the server-side ThreadPreview, so each viewed thread retains its PubSub and threads map entry for the server lifetime. The stream finalizer calls reconcile, but reconcile only deletes entries when preview.loop exists; idle or completed previews therefore accumulate for every distinct threadId. Update the server cleanup so a preview with no subscribers is deleted regardless of whether its loop is active.

Disabling a successfully started desktop host leaves its host.waitForExit fiber permanently suspended, so every enable/start/disable cycle leaks a worker fiber until the server scope closes. The cleanup deletes exits.get(requestId) at line 489 without completing it, while the desktop's stopped report resolves only the new stopId; complete the original exit deferred before removing it from the map.

Read-scoped clients can exhaust child-process and CPU resources on CUA-enabled macOS hosts by issuing parallel apps.list requests: concurrent cache misses each start an independent /usr/bin/mdfind process before InstalledApps.list writes its Ref, and each scan can run for up to 10 seconds. Add in-flight request sharing or locking around scan before exposing appsList with AuthOrchestrationReadScope.

Computer-use rows showed the generic mark on Linux because the icon resolver only knew macOS bundles. Split the resolver into per-platform sources behind one cache: macOS keeps its Spotlight and sips path, and Linux matches the app's X11 window class against freedesktop launchers (StartupWMClass, then Name, then file name) and serves the Icon= file from hicolor or pixmaps, PNG or SVG. A Windows source slots in the same way. Only absolute icon paths are followed, and relative escapes are refused. Claude Fable 5 via Claude Code. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

A matching icon can expose arbitrary readable host files through the signed icon URL: existingFile accepts symlinks because stat follows them, and HttpServerResponse.file follows the returned path when serving it. Canonicalize the resolved path or reject symlinks, and validate that the final target is an allowed image before returning it.

A local merge check found conflicts in 28 files against the current target branch. The latest implementation commit is from 2026-09-15, and there has been no contribution update in over a week. At this point, regenerating a focused patch against the current intended base would be easier to review and maintain than updating this PR. What Changed
Add opt-in Cua Driver computer use for Codex sessions on current main. The environment owns a default-off setting; eligible sessions receive a managed MCP configuration while existing user Cua configuration takes precedence.
The desktop app hosts the native driver and passes its MCP descriptor over the existing private control pipe to its primary backend. Standalone servers can supply a driver executable through
T3CODE_CUA_DRIVER_PATH. Disabling the setting stops managed access without restarting the backend. Startup and shutdown waits are bounded. Late native calls retain their host until cleanup can safely finish, with regression coverage for cancellation and failure.Cua Driver SDK and release assets are pinned to 0.24.0, with verified archive checksums and platform bundle staging. The native SDK remains external to the server and desktop main-process bundles so its native libraries and loaders can resolve correctly.
Why
Reimplements the focused computer-use integration from #5533 against current main, without the older orchestration branch history. Managed Cua is separate from agent browser access and is injected only into interactive Codex sessions. Other providers and a computer-view preview are outside this change. Mobile can direct sessions on an already configured host; setup is on web/desktop.

Remaining verification
No provider credentials were copied to the VM, so an authenticated model turn invoking native tools is not claimed. Linux verification used built desktop bundles, not a packaged AppImage. Packaged macOS permission attribution and Windows execution remain unverified. Cua Driver 0.24.0's Electron text input failed in this Xvnc guest; GTK accessibility input passed. These remaining platform gaps are explicit review limitations; the PR is open for maintainer review.
