Archiving completed threads #993

Description

@nathanscain

After completing a work in a thread with its own worktree, what is the preferred workflow to clean this up. I'd rather not delete the history, but I don't need it on my sidebar anymore and would like to clean up the worktree.

Can you add an archive option with a special case to clean up worktrees (maybe with a warning if they have uncommitted changes)?

    Is this different from the request in #350?

    Yes - I don't want to archive my whole project (repo scoped), just individual threads (work item scoped)

    Ah, based off the example image that the author posted in the second comment it seemed, to me, like they were also considering threads as well.

    I’d strongly support adding an archive feature for threads.

    Right now, deleting is the only option, which isn’t ideal because it removes potentially valuable history. In many cases, I just want to clean up my workspace without losing past context.

    Being able to archive threads (and later restore them) would solve this nicely. Especially since having multiple threads per worktree is such a powerful feature (in contrast to the Codex App), it also leads to a lot of threads accumulating over time, some of which I’d like to keep for reference, but not have cluttering the active view.

    An archive + restore flow would be a great improvement here 👍 🙏
