[Bug]: No /compact or other slash commands available, only /model #7553
I searched existing issues and did not find a duplicate.
I included enough detail to reproduce or investigate the problem.
Area
apps/web
Steps to reproduce
Open T3 Code nightly
Type / in the composer
The command palette shows only "BUILT-IN → /model (Switch response model for this thread)"
There is no /compact, /clear, /new, or any other command
Expected behavior
A useful set of built-in commands should be available (e.g. /compact, /clear, /new) per the composer placeholder "Ask anything, @tag files/folders, $use skills, or / for commands".
Actual behavior
Only /model appears. No way to compact long threads from the UI. Long Codex sessions balloon to hundreds of MB on disk and the thread slows down; a UI-level compact action is critical for daily use. Confirmed on latest nightly 0.0.34-nightly.20260819.1133.
Impact
Blocks work completely
Version or commit
0.0.34-nightly.20260819.1133
Environment
macOS on Apple Silicon M4 Pro, T3 Code Nightly 0.0.34-nightly.20260819.1133, Codex provider
Thanks for the detailed report. We are tracking provider slash-command support in Ideas discussion #6766. The direct context-meter action has its own scope in Ideas discussion #8100.
Adding command discovery, provider capability checks, completion, and safe command dispatch is new composer and provider support. I added the /compact, /clear, and /new expectations from this report to the general discussion. Issue #7652 remains open for compaction progress and result presentation.
I'm closing this as a feature request tracked in Ideas as part of an automated pass on all open issues. This does not mean slash commands or manual compaction are implemented. The handoff also preserves the reported failure where unsupported slash input was sent to the model as an ordinary prompt.

When using codex provider you also can't use the /compact

ChatGPT Codex has /compact (see attached, "Compact this chat's context"). T3 Code doesn't expose it at all.

Adding to this. I ran
/compactand the model just took it as a regular message instead of a compact command:Running on nighly
