Before submitting

  • I searched existing issues and did not find a duplicate.
  • I included enough detail to reproduce or investigate the problem.

Area

apps/web

Steps to reproduce

  1. Turn on Linked environments in Settings → Labs.
  2. Open Settings → Environments and click Link in the Linked environments section, or open a link card an agent posted in a thread.
  3. Pick a machine this app can't mint a pairing code for, so the dialog asks for a code.
  4. Follow the hint under the pairing code field: "Create a link on : Settings → Connections → Create link, then paste its code here."

Expected behavior

The hint names the page that has the button: Settings → Sharing & access → Authorized clients → Create link.

Actual behavior

The settings sidebar has no Connections page. /settings/connections is labeled Environments, and it has no Create link button. The button is in the header of the Authorized clients section on /settings/access, labeled Sharing & access. A user who follows the hint can't find it.

The same wrong path appears in three places:

  • apps/web/src/components/settings/LinkedEnvironmentsSettings.tsx:338, the Link an environment dialog
  • apps/web/src/components/chat/LinkRequestCard.tsx:416, the link card in a chat thread
  • apps/mobile/src/features/threads/LinkRequestCard.tsx:418, the same card on mobile

The revoke copy around these hints has the same problem. It tells the user to revoke the link in "that machine's Connections". The session a link creates on the other machine, T3 Code · <label>, is listed under Authorized clients on Sharing & access, and it is revoked there. The t3 environment link and t3 environment unlink CLI descriptions say the same thing.

Confirmed on the official macOS desktop nightly 0.1.6-nightly.20261030.3940, commit ae521d1d796c4e21abb49e44d27c23332d1898b9.

The agent's link dialog tells the user to create a code in Settings → Connections → Create link. The screenshots show the button under Settings → Sharing & access → Authorized clients → Create link. Searching Settings for “connections” returns “This machine,” with “Sharing & access” underneath, which adds another name to the same journey.

The stale hint is present in the desktop/web card and mobile card. Both still contain it at checked main cb9629e6891ef0745772b69f09c9acd0c6a74f7e.

Additional usability context: the link request targets localhost:7642, while the Settings screenshot shows 127.0.0.1:3773. Both instances are named “MacBook Pro.” The instructions need to make clear that the code comes from the target instance, even when both run on the same physical machine.

Environment: macOS, Darwin 27.0.0, arm64. Verification covers screenshots and source, without an end-to-end pairing attempt.

Produced by Codex, gpt-6.1-sol, via T3 Code triage.
