[Bug]: Built-in PDF viewer resets to page 1 whenever the assistant responds #23632

Open

Description

@spnotold

Before submitting

  • I searched existing issues and did not find a matching PDF reading-position report.
  • I included the reported steps and behavior to help investigate the problem.

Area

Not sure — T3 Code's built-in PDF viewer/preview.

Steps to reproduce

From the reporter's description; not independently reproduced:

  1. Open a multi-page PDF in T3 Code's built-in viewer.
  2. Navigate or scroll to a later page.
  3. Keep the PDF open while the assistant responds.
  4. Observe the PDF's reading position after the response.

Expected behavior

The PDF viewer preserves the current page and scroll position across assistant responses.

Actual behavior

Whenever the assistant responds, the PDF content appears to reload and jumps back to page 1. The reader has to manually navigate back to the previous reading position every time.

Reported to happen on every assistant response. The exact timing during streaming versus response completion has not been established.

Impact

Major degradation or frequent failure: repeatedly loses the reader's place and interrupts reading a PDF alongside the conversation.

Version or commit

Not provided.

Environment

T3 Code's built-in PDF viewer. OS, client type, and client/server versions were not provided.

Workaround

Manually navigate back to the previous position after each assistant response.

Related

#23089 describes a similar loss of playback position for paused videos after agent commands. This report concerns PDF page/scroll position after assistant replies; a shared cause has not been confirmed.

Drafted with GPT-6.1-Sol through Codex in T3 Code from the user's report.

Additional reported trigger: switching to another conversation and back also resets the built-in PDF viewer to page 1.

    Steps to reproduce

From the user's report; not independently reproduced:

    1. Open a multi-page PDF in T3 Code's built-in viewer in conversation A.
    2. Navigate or scroll to a page after page 1.
    3. Switch to a different conversation B.
    4. Switch back to conversation A.
    5. Observe the PDF's reading position.

Actual behavior: The PDF automatically returns to page 1. The user reports this happens whenever they switch away and return.

Expected behavior: Returning to the conversation restores the PDF's previous page and scroll position, allowing the user to continue reading where they left off.

This adds a conversation-switching repro to the assistant-response trigger described above. Whether the two triggers share an underlying cause has not been confirmed.
