[Bug]: iOS thread with ZIP attachment stays on "Loading messages..." #10369

Description

@etcircle

Problem

An existing thread containing a ZIP attachment opens normally in T3 Code desktop and web, but stays on “Loading messages...” indefinitely on both iPhone and iPad. The sidebar and thread header load; the conversation remains blank.

The iOS app was recently installed/updated, so an outdated installation should not be assumed.

Observed reproduction

  1. Open an existing desktop-created thread containing a ZIP attachment.
  2. Open the same thread through T3 Connect on iPhone or iPad.
  3. The message pane never finishes loading. The same thread remains accessible on desktop and web.

Expected: The conversation loads, including supported attachment information. An unsupported attachment should not prevent the entire conversation from opening.

Environment and evidence

  • Host: macOS, T3 Code desktop 0.0.38, bundled commit c0995d2eaf8e.
  • Mobile user agent: T3Code/26 CFNetwork/3860.700.1 Darwin/25.6.0. Exact app version/installed JS update has not been confirmed.
  • ZIP metadata: type: "file", mimeType: "application/x-zip-compressed", sizeBytes: 722668.
  • The ZIP opens locally and its metadata satisfies the installed desktop's attachment schema.
  • For the affected thread, the host logged two iOS history requests returning HTTP 200 in 69.5 ms and 81.1 ms, with response sizes 368,838 and 351,403 bytes. These confirm successful host responses, not successful decoding on the phone.

Suspected cause and related work

The ZIP attachment is a suspected trigger, not a confirmed cause. No phone-side decoding error or controlled ZIP-removal comparison has been captured.

Related: #9414 and #10206. This report adds verified ZIP metadata and successful iOS HTTP responses from an affected thread. #10216 improves reporting of terminated loads, but does not establish a fix for the underlying attachment/data compatibility problem.

Please investigate ZIP/file-attachment decoding across the released iOS client and desktop server, and ensure a rejected attachment cannot leave the whole conversation loading indefinitely.

Duplicate of #9414 — same iOS / mobile “Loading messages…” forever when opening a thread.

Keeping #9414 as the canonical tracker. Useful extras from this report (verified ZIP metadata application/x-zip-compressed, successful host HTTP 200s on an affected thread, desktop 0.0.38 / UA T3Code/26) line up with the file-attachment schema-decode suspicion already noted on #9414 / #10206.

    Closing as duplicate of #9414.
