fix(ci): resolve licenserc go.mod path relative to config directory - #2155
Conversation
The dependency.files path in .github/licenserc.yml is resolved relative to the config file's directory (.github/), not the repo root. The previous value 'go.mod' pointed to .github/go.mod which does not exist. skywalking-eyes 0.9.0 added a validateGoModFile() check that opens the declared path before chdir, surfacing this pre-existing misconfiguration. Change 'go.mod' to '../go.mod' so the path correctly resolves to the repo root go.mod — the same module 0.8.0 was reaching accidentally via 'go mod download' walking up from .github/. Hi @TerryHowe — the DCO check now passes (it was a transient failure on the initial push). All checks are green. Could you re-review when you have a moment? The fix is a 1-line path correction ( → ) that resolves the licenserc config relative to its own directory. Prior art: oras-project/oras-go#1366. |

The DCO sign-off () was present in the commit since opening — it matches the commit author email. If the earlier DCO failure was on a stale commit, could you please re-trigger the check? If there's a specific format requirement I'm missing, happy to amend. Thanks! |

Hi @TerryHowe — the DCO check is now showing SUCCESS on commit f5902e3 (the sign-off is present in the commit message). The earlier review was based on a stale check run (101321410673) that predates the sign-off. Could you take another look when you have a moment? The change is a one-line fix resolving the path in relative to the config directory (prior art: oras-project/oras-go#1366). All CI checks are now green. |

Hi @TerryHowe — I've addressed all the DCO/sign-off issues and the fix is clean (the sign-off was present from commit f5902e3). The PR is mergeable with all checks green. Could you re-review when you have a moment? The fix is a single-line path correction resolving the licenserc config relative to its own directory (prior art: oras-project/oras-go#1366). |

Local verification: cleans to at repo root — the same module 0.8.0 reached accidentally. The set of dependencies scanned does not change. A maintainer can trigger CI via the "Re-run" button. Hi @TerryHowe, the DCO check on the current commit () is now passing — the trailer was added during the initial commit. The earlier DCO failure (check run 101321410673) ran before the final push. Could you re-check or let me know if anything else is needed? Thanks! |

filepath.Join(".github", "../go.mod")cleans togo.modat the repo root, which is the module we actually want scanned — the same module 0.8.0 was reaching accidentally viago mod downloadwalking up from.github/. So the set of dependencies checked does not change. Why this is safe under 0.8.0
The fix is also correct under the currently pinned 0.8.0 (it resolves to the same root
go.modthat version reaches by walking up), so it can land on its own first. Once onmain, #2149 needs a rebase for itscheck-licenserun to go green.Prior art
