Thumbnails: Return WebP instead of PNG to decrease file and transfer size? #3794

As discussed with @dschmidt
Followup of #3332 ?!
I'd think all platforms (web browsers, android, iOS..... desktop ? @TheOneRing ?) support WebP, but would need testing.
