Alpha phase for Node.js 27 unexplained #1160
Description
Activity
To enable docker-node to make preparations (see nodejs/docker-node#2533), it would be helpful to have details available 6 - 8 weeks before the first Node.js 27 Alpha release (planned for 2026-10-28). This would be beginning of August 2026.
Current scripts in docker-node won't work with any pre-release SemVer tags. Scripts would need to be modified in order to package Node.js 27 Alpha releases as official Docker images.
There's a concrete proposal in nodejs/node#63135, hopefully we can get to consensus before August

Statements in the README such as:
Odd-numbered release lines are not promoted to LTS
are no longer true.
https://github.com/nodejs/node/blob/main/README.md#release-types which has been updated with Alpha information, also refers to the document https://github.com/nodejs/Release#readme for more information.
Currently there isn't more information here, there is less information.
The README now includes Node.js 27 in the phase diagram showing Alpha and Current phases. This is out of sync with the description in Release Phases which has no mention of any Alpha phase.
