Proposal: Change target of "Start chat" like in Person Card

Description

I suggest to change the target of "Start chat" link in the person card to call the standard Chat tool registered in the users operating system. This is done for example in the Person Card called by SharePoint (in people picker fields).

Rationale

At the moment, the "Start chat" link in the person card is static and links to the Teams URL. If anyone is not yet using MS Teams, this feature is of no use. The standard Person Card in SharePoint people picker fields shows a dynamic link to the Chat tool registered in the operating system (i.e. Windows).

Preferred Solution

Clicking on "Start chat" requests the default Chat tool in Windows (or other operating system).

This seems like a reasonable ask. I'll be adding this to our backlog. I would love to get insights on what are the targets you are thinking of? Skype for Business + Teams? We are also bringing a new capability in v3.0 where you could send a message in Teams inline. Would you expect to be able to turn off this feature to reduce confusion?

Yes, you are right in both cases: Our thought is: either have to option to choose the tool (we think at Skype as you suggested) or turn off the feature.
