I'm not sure if it's a bug, but Column Layouts cannot be deleted using (only) the keyboard.
The only way to delete a layout is by selecting it and pressing delete.
Tested on the playground.
I’ve implemented the backspace behavior: when at offset 0 in the first column and all columns are empty, the layout gets deleted.
I noticed backspace from the rightmost column doesn’t shift focus to the previous one — typically, it should move to its lastChild. I didn’t include that here, but I can follow up separately if needed.
Looked at #6938 too — seems broader. I’ll likely start with a few more scoped issues before tackling that. Let me know your thoughts!

I'd like to work on this issue and want to clarify a few things before proceeding:
Should backspace at offset 0 in the first column, when empty, remove the entire layout?
If the left column is empty and the right has content, should backspace at offset 0 in the right column:
remove the left column, or
lift the right column's content and replace the layout?
What’s the expected behavior when both columns are empty?
Looking to confirm the intended behavior before starting the fix.

The widget is deletable if you enable the 'custom context menu', right-click has a 'delete node'.
The only behaviour that should be added:
Each column should be treated as an individual block and should not have content from one column to another.
If you want to make the overall plugin better, you can also have a look at: #6938

Thanks ivailop7 for the clarification.
