Summary

Doc-alignment roster row 227 (Model deprecations). The Models section of prompts/loops/loop-lane-prompts.md told operators to re-resolve its two derived per-model comparisons only when a new model family reaches GA or when a lane alias is observed resolving to a different model — both reactive triggers. A deprecation/retirement announcement for a model an alias resolves to precedes the alias move (upstream commits to at least 60 days' notice) and upstream warns deprecated models are likely to be less reliable than active ones, so it is the earliest re-check signal. This adds it as a third trigger, pointer-only: no dates, model IDs, or lifecycle tables are copied into the repo.

Resolved against the live page 2026-08-04: raw .md capture 12,764 B, MD5 783f0a320e3c4a544103a8f163c8be79.

Audited and deliberately unchanged:

  • plugins/playbooks/skills/fable-5/context/calibration.md:40 — dated archival system-prompt citation ("Claude Opus 4.1 entry, dated August 5 2025"); API retirement (requests fail) does not affect a published system-prompt archive, and the surrounding text already treats the entry as superseded.
  • docs/topics/ai-adoption-ladder/design/RESEARCH-product-surface.md:104 — frozen research record of a third-party action's then-default model ID; the action is not adopted in any workflow here.
  • plugins/playbooks/reference/model-adaptation/ — all three subject models (Opus 4.8, Opus 5, Sonnet 5) are Active on the live table; no stale references.

Repo-root prompts/ surface — no plugin version bump.

…list

The Models section's re-resolve trigger list fired only on family GA or
an observed alias flip — both reactive. A deprecation/retirement
announcement for a model a lane alias resolves to precedes the alias
move and is the earliest re-check signal, so add it as a third trigger,
pointing at the upstream model-deprecations page rather than copying any
dates or lifecycle tables.

Resolved against the live page 2026-08-04 (raw .md capture 12,764 B,

Repo-root prompts surface — no plugin version bump.

Review complete

  • Gather context (diff, CLAUDE.md, target file)
  • Understand the request
  • Review changed file for correctness and alignment with CLAUDE.md
  • Post findings

Scope: prompts/loops/loop-lane-prompts.md — adds a third re-resolve trigger (upstream deprecation/retirement announcement) to the Models section's per-model comparison caveat.

Findings

No correctness or CLAUDE.md-alignment issues found.

  • Factual accuracy verified against the live page. I fetched https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/about-claude/model-deprecations directly. Both claims embedded in the new prose check out verbatim:
    • "Anthropic notifies customers ... providing at least 60 days' notice before model retirement" ✓
    • "Deprecated models are likely to be less reliable than active models" (the page's own warning banner) ✓
    • The PR's "timely context" claim (claude-opus-4-1-20250805 retires 2026-08-05) also matches the live table exactly.
  • Pointer-only, as CLAUDE.md's design rules imply for repo-agnostic docs — no dates, model IDs, or lifecycle-table values are copied into the repo; the addition only links out and states the shape of the rule (announcement precedes alias move).
  • Fresh-docs mandate: this file is prompts/ prose (not a plugin manifest/schema/hook contract/skill frontmatter), so the mandate's mandatory scope doesn't technically require the live-fetch-and-cite step here — but the PR did it anyway (raw .md capture + MD5 in the description), which is good practice and matches how the adjacent models overview citation a few lines above was already handled.
  • Audited-and-unchanged claims spot-checked and accurate: plugins/playbooks/skills/fable-5/context/calibration.md:40 (dated Opus 4.1 system-prompt citation, already superseded in context), docs/topics/ai-adoption-ladder/design/RESEARCH-product-surface.md:104 (frozen third-party research record), and plugins/playbooks/reference/model-adaptation/ (Opus 4.8, Opus 5, Sonnet 5 all confirmed Active on the live table).
  • Style consistency: the new parenthetical citation matches the existing inline-link + em-dash convention used one paragraph above for the models overview link; no markdownlint concerns (MD013 line-length is disabled repo-wide, so the multi-line wrap is fine). I couldn't run markdownlint-cli2 directly (no network access in this sandbox to install node_modules), but the diff introduces no new list items, headings, or code fences — nothing the enabled rule set would flag.
  • Minor, non-blocking phrasing note: "when a model one of them resolves to is announced deprecated or retired" is a little dense (elided relative pronoun), but it's consistent with the file's existing terse register and reads correctly on a second pass — not worth a revision.

Nothing to fix. This is a minimal, accurate, well-scoped documentation change.
