lib/hook-utils.test.sh: begin path-split cases fail intermittently on test-linux #4360

Description

@kyle-sexton

Observed

On PR #4210, CI run 35865887568, job test-linux (2) (https://github.com/melodic-software/claude-code-plugins/actions/runs/35865887568/job/107197366977) failed in lib/hook-utils.test.sh with two assertions:

FAIL: begin: a nested path → FILE_DIR '' (want '/a'), FILE_BASE '' (want 'b.md')
FAIL: begin: a Windows backslash path → FILE_DIR '' (want '.'), FILE_BASE '' (want 'x.md')
PASS=505 FAIL=2

Why it looks intermittent

  • The same tree passed every job on an earlier head (0f2c5f5, byte-identical content).
  • Re-running only the failed job on the same commit passed.
  • The last five ci.yml runs on main all succeeded.

Both failing cases return empty FILE_DIR and FILE_BASE rather than a wrong value, which suggests the begin path split sometimes never runs or reads an empty input, rather than a parsing bug for these path shapes.

Expected

The begin cases in lib/hook-utils.test.sh pass deterministically on every run.

Next step

Reproduce with the suite in a loop on Linux (and under parallel shard load like CI's matrix) to find what makes the split yield empty values.

    Duplicate of #4357: same suite, same test-linux (2) shard, same empty FILE_DIR/FILE_BASE signature from the begin post-read loop. Both failing assertions and the run link are copied to #4357.
