Hello Mr. Rolich,
Thank you for creating the Magnifier.js library. I am an undergraduate at UCLA and I am volunteering at a lab. I am making a website for the lab that compares image compression technologies. I am using your magnifier.js library to show the differences more clearly. I chose your library because like how your library allows users to zoom into images and creates a nice user interface.
However there are a few functionalities that I would like to have that I am having trouble implementing with your library.
First, when I adjust the size of the preview window, the preview is distorted.
I have created a JSFiddle example: http://jsfiddle.net/anisotropies/B5NSc/1/
If I adjust the height of 600px instead of 133px (a different ratio than the original image), the image is distorted. I want to create a magnified image with an aspect ratio different from the original. I would appreciate it if you could point out where in your library I could change to make it so that changing the preview window’s size does not distort the image.
Second, I would like to implement a functionality where when you put your mouse over one image, it magnifies the exact same spot on a second image. For example, if I have two images that I want to compare, I would put my mouse over the first image and see a magnified preview, and at the same time, I would see the magnified preview of the second image in the exact same spot of the first. I would appreciate it if you could suggest a way to implement this functionality.
Thanks so much for considering my questions.
Regards,
Andrew Chan
