Android support for 16 KB page sizes

Hi team,

Google Play now requires Android apps to support a 16KB SQLite page size to comply with memory usage policies and improve performance.

We noticed that this is not yet supported in the current version of the Mapbox Flutter SDK. Could you please confirm if support for this is planned in an upcoming release? If not, we kindly request you to include it in a future update, as it's now a compliance requirement on the Play Store.

The React Native Map Box Package also still has this issue. What you should do for now is request an extension via the Play Console and that will give you until Nov 1, 2025.

Hi, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

We’re currently working on adding out-of-the-box support for the 16KB page size in compliance with Google Play’s requirements. In the meantime, you can override the mapbox-maps-android dependency with a version that supports a 16KB page size.

To do this, add the following to your android/app/build.gradle:

configurations.configureEach {
    resolutionStrategy {
        dependencySubstitution {
            substitute(module("com.mapbox.maps:android")).using(module("com.mapbox.maps:android-ndk27:MAPBOX_MAPS_ANDROID_SDK_VERSION"))
        }
    }

Replace MAPBOX_MAPS_ANDROID_SDK_VERSION according to your current mapbox_maps_flutter version:

I am using mapbox_maps_flutter: ^2.10.0. I updated into android/app/build.grale.kts following this .
It works for me.

I stayed with the 2.5.1 version of this package. And by adding:

The Google Play deadline ends in just a few weeks. What's the recommended approach now please?

Should we use the Gradle hack listed above, or is this beta expected to be fully prod ready any time soon?

The hacky workaround seems to work and the 16KB page warning in the Play Console is gone.

I'm using build.gradle.kts, mapbox-flutter:2.10.0, and added the following snippet inside the android block in android/app/build.gradle.kts:

configurations.configureEach {

                .using(module("com.mapbox.maps:android-ndk27:11.14.0"))
        }
    }
}

After that, I ran flutter clean and rebuilt the project.

To verify the 16KB issue was resolved, open Android Studio and go to Build -> Analyze APK, then select the APK generated at
build/app/outputs/apk/debug/app-debug.apk.

Until the stable version arrives you can request an extension until May 31, 2026.

We released v2.12.0-beta.1 and it's the first version with 16KB support.
Stable release will be available in several weeks.
