feat(subagents): suggest a delegation model by sizing the work (carry #6274) - #6389
Conversation
- POST /api/injection-model/suggest sizes a described piece of delegated work with the role sizing rubric in one call and maps it to the cheapest sufficient model among the options GET /api/injection-model offers - buildRoleProposals takes alwaysProposeEffort so the delegation proposal always carries an effort; role auto-assign keeps proposing effort only for roles that already set one - The proposed effort stays on the Codex levels PUT /api/injection-model accepts, and an accepted proposal is written through that PUT
- ocx agent injection suggest <work> prints the sized proposal without writing, and --apply writes the proposed model and effort through PUT /api/injection-model - Declare the agent injection capability with its read, write and suggest routes, which moves the two injection-model routes out of the undeclared ratchet, and regenerate the ocx skill surface
…the Subagents page - A Suggest button beside the delegation model opens a short description field; one sizing call returns tier, effort, rationale and move triggers with the proposed model and effort, and nothing changes until Use this saves through the page's existing delegation save - Share the tier and effort labels between the omo role auto-assign panel and the new panel from one module - Add the Suggest strings in all ten locales
- structure/subagents.md states how the delegation suggest reuses the role sizing rubric and mapper, where its candidates and effort levels come from, and that it writes nothing - The sub-agent surface guide, CLI reference and management API reference cover Suggest, ocx agent injection suggest and POST /api/injection-model/suggest
…ds it - The injection- file seed resolves to codex-integration, beside injection-model-api.test.ts, so the explicit layout entry and the file move there and the seed oracle agrees
- With Suggest beside the model and effort pickers, the controls squeezed the row's description into a one-word column at 390px; below 640px the row now puts its controls under the description
… set - ocx agent injection suggest --apply no longer PUTs when the proposed model and effort equal the current delegation pick, and prints what it is already set to, the same check the Subagents page uses to hide Use this
- POST /api/injection-model/suggest reads the catalog once and passes the same snapshot to the offered options and to proposeDelegationModel, which now takes models instead of a loader
- The delegation suggest sends DELEGATED_WORK_SIZING_SYSTEM_PROMPT, the role rubric followed by an addendum that sizes the described work itself; role auto-assign keeps ROLE_SIZING_SYSTEM_PROMPT, pinned by a sha256 of its bytes
…eaders - DelegationSuggest keeps one visually hidden polite live region mounted that reads the localized running label while sizing and the result title once a proposal arrives
- ROLE_INSTRUCTIONS_EXCERPT_CHARS moves to the import-free leaf src/codex/role-sizing-limits.ts, re-exported by role-sizing, and the Suggest textarea reads its maxLength from it instead of a copied 1500
…s on the Subagents suggest - sizing-labels.ts, the delegation suggest and its test use the integrations.lazycodexRoles.auto.* keys and import RoleProposal from LazyCodexRoleAutoAssign after the parent's rename; delegation suggest itself stays unscoped
The #6367 security fix sanitized role auto-assign errors; the delegated-work suggest path reuses the same completion and still echoed the raw error into sizingError and the unsized reason. Route it through publicSizingError and pin the leak case.

Clear stale proposals when the work description changes
After a suggestion returns, editing the textarea leaves that proposal and its enabled Use this action on screen, so a user can describe different work and accidentally apply the model sized for the previous text. The stale action also remains enabled while a second sizing request is running because run() does not clear result; clear or invalidate the proposal when work changes or a new request starts.

Use the public catalog winner for candidate metadata.
When catalog rows share a public slug, proposeDelegationModel passes the raw rows to modelCandidates. The lookup uses last-row-wins semantics, while the public model list keeps the catalog collision winner. The proposal can therefore use the offered slug with another row’s price and effort ladder.
This can change the candidate’s calculated tier, select a different proposed model, or produce a proposedEffort that belongs to the losing row. The suggestion endpoint is read-only, but accepting it can persist the incorrect model or effort.
Pass the deduplicated public catalog to modelCandidates:

Maintainer integration record (MAINTAINERS.md, dev-only)

Summary
Carries #6274 by @LilMGenius onto
dev, on top of the two earlier carries: #6366 (#6262) and #6367 (#6269). The 12 commits are replayed with their author. Two maintainer commits follow: a security repair and a plan-unit note."Model to call first" on the Subagents page (
injectionModel/injectionEffort) is a single model and effort the user picks by hand for every delegated job. That choice feeds the delegation guidance and, when sync is on, Codex's native[agents]defaults. This PR adds a Suggest button next to the setting. The user describes the delegated work in a sentence. One sizing call then runs the #6269 rubric with a prompt addendum for one-shot work. The deterministic mapper picks the cheapest sufficient model from the list the page already offers, plus an effort the save accepts. The page shows the rationale and the move-up and move-down triggers. Nothing changes until Use this, which goes through the existingPUT /api/injection-model.POST /api/injection-model/suggestis read-only. The CLI counterpart isocx agent injection suggest <work> [--apply], and--applyskips a setting that already matches.alwaysProposeEffortoption onbuildRoleProposals, which defaults to off. The tier and effort labels move into the sharedgui/src/pages/integrations/sizing-labels.ts.Maintainer security change (behavior change, not a mechanical carry fix):
881bb588f4"fix(carry): keep sizing failure text out of delegation suggest responses". The suggest path reuses the sizing completion and echoed the raw completion error intosizingErrorand into the unsized reason. That error can contain upstream response text and exception messages. The #6367 security review found the same class of leak in role auto-assign. Now only a fixed category or a bareHTTP <status>is returned (publicSizingError). A regression test intests/codex-integration/injection-model-suggest-routes.test.tschecks that paths, account IDs, and keys never reach the response.Carried from #6274. Original author: @LilMGenius.
