3P Plugin crash notepad ++ when Compiling or Saving .w file

Description of the Issue

I updated 3p plugin to 1.8.1 from 1.7.x and this issue start happening.
The auto complete doesn't recognize database the field ( the field doesn't show up) when I open .w and I must restart notepad ++ so the plugin can work in .p.
I can't compile .w and save .w with the newest plugin (the notepad ++ crash immediately.
Code Explorer is stop working when I open .w file and will stop working until I restart the notepad++
Openedge version is 10.2A

Steps to Reproduce the Issue

1. update plugin to 1.8.1
2. open .w in notepad++
3. compile or save .w or open the code explorer

Expected Behavior

1. .w compiled
2. .w saved
3. code explorer show the structure of .w

Actual Behavior

1. notepad++ crash
2. code explorer stop working (refresh icon )
3. database auto complete doesn't show the field of table.

The issue is pretty confusing, you seem to have several problems?

I understand that notepad++ crashes when you open a .w?
Or does it crashes when you try to compile a file?
Does it happen for all .w files?
Can you send me a .w file that makes notepad++ crash?

(fyi, i'm not reproducing your issue at all, hence my questions)

As for the autocompletion problem, please make sure that you have the database structure extracted in your environment page :

The extracted format has changed in 1.8.0

Hi it's not happen to all .w file but mostly all the .w. the notepad ++ crash when I save or compile.w file. The database structure already extracted, but the field doesn't show up. I will post necessary file and lmage to explain it better later.

Let's separate the problems.

1. For you database field

In your example, qq seems to be a input parameter FOR table. Is qq a table/temp-table known by 3P?
Is it a table from your database?

For instance, i have a table called _ActAILog and i define a input parameter for this table. If i hover the _ActAILog word with my mouse cursor, in the tooltip i should have :

You see there are 2 (see 1/2 in the tooltip) definitions for this word, you can access the second with CTRL + Down arrow. The second definition is the table from the database, which is know by 3P because i extracted the databatase structure :

Other test, if you type "qq", it should appear twice in the autocompletion :

Otherwise, this means the table is unknown.

2. .w crashing notepad++

I unfortunately can't reproduce your problem. I can think of one more thing we can try : can you go in the options and set those two options like so (in options -> code edition)

Those two actions are done when saving/compiling a file. Maybe it is what causes a crash.

PS : do you check the .net framework requirement to run 3P? i.e. .net framework 4.6.2 must be installed

do I need to install the specific version of .net or I can install the latest .net (4.7)?

4.6.2 or superior, the latest is fine

And I find that disconnect my pc from the remote database make 3p notepad work normally.

Hello, bug not reproduced and a lot of my questions didn't find answer. I don't have an idea on what causes this issue and there are too much modifications to consider between 1.7.7 -> 1.8.2.

I get the same crash issue on saving a file.

3p 1.8.3, 64x

I tried the 2 settings as advised above (disable auto update of functions ON and parser errors OFF), still crashes.

I can tell the crash will happen as the code explorer is blank when I open a file...

The only workaround to date is to wipe the plugin config (remove the "..\AppData\Roaming\Notepad++\plugins\Config\3P" folder).

The crash seems to start after I define the environment.

I have an open edge file open, looks ok.

I go to the plugin settings, define an environment. Press the get data structure, that completes ok. I say view, i see the data. I then close the db structure info file, notepad++ switches to the open edge file, I get this error message: "Vector too long"

From then on the code explorer stops working and n++ will crash on save.

If I switch back to the default env, things start to work again...
