Guest and host hang (hard reboot required) when using gvt-g for a few hours

Hi, I am getting the below issues (along with host kernel getting hung) when using gvt-g on Intel i5 8265U/620 UHD graphics. My QEMU version is 3.1 (Debian 10 amd64). I was using Windows 10 (1909) as guest with iGFX drivers from Jan 2019 to latest one released on date of this crash. This issue usually happens when using a web browser like Edge after watching a HD video on lets say Youtube. This issue also happens when using the guest continuosly for a few hours.

@shubhra-prakash-nandi, can you still reproduce this issue on the latest kernel and windows gfx driver from https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/29817/Intel-Graphics-BETA-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers?product=80939?

@shubhra-prakash-nandi, do you have NVIDIA GPU in your system? Are the proprietary drivers loaded? If yes to both questions, try to blacklist them (in modprobe.d/*.conf) and test again. They were the culprit for my Lenovo TP P52

I donot have dual graphics. Can I use vanilla linux kernel or kernel patched specifically for gvt-g? Also is there a qemu version specific to gvt-g or any upstream qemu is good. Last time I used distro qemu and vanilla linux kernel.

According to Intel https://01.org/igvt-g/blogs/wangbo85/2017/gvt-g-upstream-status-update-were-transition-phase the code has merged to upstream starting from 4.10.
