Installation: Remove the old local Heidrun application after the documentation experiment #391

Closed

Description

@jeromeetienne

Context

During the documentation experiment for issue #375, selecting Heidrun by application name opened an old installed application. Jérôme was not aware that this installation existed.

The old application showed the previous interface, including a Git sidebar section, and did not have the current Files sidebar section. The current application had to be built from the experiment worktree and selected by its application bundle path to capture accurate documentation screenshots.

Requested work

After the documentation experiment:

  1. Identify the exact path and version of the old installed Heidrun application.
  2. Remove the old application installation so selecting Heidrun does not open that obsolete version.
  3. Confirm that the intended current application can still be launched.

Preserve the repositories, worktrees, application data, settings, and running agents. Removing the old installation does not include deleting the documentation experiment or its application bundle.

Completion criteria

  • The old installation path and version are recorded in this issue.
  • The old installed application has been removed after the documentation experiment.
  • The intended current application remains available.

This issue records deferred work. No application has been removed as part of creating this issue.

    Investigation and removal result.

    • No old Heidrun application was installed in /Applications or ~/Applications.
    • The old application was a build output in the main checkout: /Users/jetienne/webwork/heidrun/packages/apps/desktop_tauri/target/debug/bundle/macos/Heidrun.app, version 0.2.0, built on 11 October 2026.
    • That bundle was not running. It is now deleted, and its registration in macOS Launch Services is removed.
    • The name "Heidrun" now resolves to the current application, version 0.2.5, in the documentation experiment worktree. That application is still running.
    • Not touched: the repositories, the worktrees, the application data, the settings, and the running agents.
