Stuck in the Auth Login

What happened?

When selecting "Login with Google" in Gemini-CLI, the process gets stuck. No new browser tab opens (default browser is Firefox). Even when running with sudo, the login process freezes on the screenshot loading step and does not proceed.

What did you expect to happen?

I expected a new browser tab to open for Google authentication, allowing me to sign in and complete the setup in Gemini-CLI. I also expected it to work with Firefox as the default browser, since Chrome is not mentioned as a requirement in the documentation.

Gemini CLI is able to open a tab in FireFox on my machine macOS Sequoia 15.5 when I change Firefox to be my default browser.
What OS and what version of Firefox are you using?

My OS is ubuntu (Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS);

My firefox version is 139.0.4

Well, I just reinstalled the firefox and when I selected Login With Google... No, it didn't open the Firefox, instead, opened another browser that is installed (Zen Browser). I have no idea why...

Anyway, the problem is gone, I'm not sure if it's a solution, but I'm closing it as an issue.

you can copy paste the link from normal session to a private/incognito window, it will work

I am having this issue as well. Ubuntu and browser is chrome.
