I need to see the usage somewhere handy on the main UI. It's pretty important.

For global, you can check out Settings > Accounts.
If you want to see per-session usage, you can click on the session name at the top bar and a popup will show up with the session tokens and spend.

Does that give you enough visibility, are you missing something else?
