--enable web_search_cached is deprecated in codex CLI v0.144.1 #2525
Used at SKILL.md:989, 1027, 1270, 1425, 1479 (v1.60.1.0 @ a325940).
Under codex CLI v0.144.1 the flag still parses, but every invocation emits:
deprecated: `[features].web_search_cached` is deprecated because web search is enabled by default.
Set `web_search` to `"live"`, `"indexed"`, `"cached"`, or `"disabled"` at the top level (or under a profile) in config.toml if you want to override it.
Replacement: -c 'web_search="cached"' — reproduced directly, and the notice disappears.
One caveat worth stating precisely: the two are not unconditionally equivalent. The legacy flag yields to an existing top-level web_search = live|indexed|disabled, whereas the -c form explicitly overrides it. For a user with no competing setting the behaviour matches; for a user with one, it does not.
Separately, and possibly worth a docs tweak: native codex review disables web search regardless of configuration, which makes the claim at :1551 inaccurate for the default review path.
Minor/housekeeping — filed separately from the safety issues so it can be closed independently.
Under --json, the deprecation surfaces as an item.type == "error" event
rather than a stderr notice — it appeared 3 times in a single 240s codex exec run. Anything parsing the JSONL stream for real errors will
see these.

Still reproduces on codex-cli 0.147.0 and gstack v1.64.0.0.
Two things changed since this was filed against v1.60.1.0:
