Change

OmO's /model list now shows in the chat as a card, the way Claude Code's and Codex's do. Pick a model on the card and it is picked for the session; the card names the model in use.

OmO draws pi's model selector, but with two differences that kept the pi reader from seeing it:

  • Its keys stand over the filter line instead of under the catalogue: enter select ctrl+s select as default ctrl+f favorite, then > and the rows.
  • It ticks the model in use after the name (claude-opus-4-8 [anthropic] ✓) and counts the rows below the window (… 14 more below).

herdr also names an OmO pane omo (and pi, claude or nothing at times), and parsePrompt only tried pi's model reader for pi.

parseOmoModel anchors on OmO's hint and the filter line right under it, and reads the rows with piModelRows. A narrow pane's wrapped provider tail joins back as it does for pi; PI_MODEL_TAIL_RE now also allows OmO's tick after the bracket. The tick is stripped from the label. It is tried wherever ...omo() already runs. The answer route treats omo-model like pi-model: moves are read back by the model's name before the Enter, since OmO's list scrolls under the cursor too. A filter that leaves a single model is still a list (piModelRows takes a minimum). The card is live only while the list sits over OmO's notes, one rule and its footer.

Validation

  • Captured OmO 5.1.30 (engine senpi 2026.10.11) running /model in an isolated herdr session: fullscreen and regular mode at 120 columns, a filter typed with the cursor moved, and a 46-column pane where both the hint and a long model's provider wrap.
  • server/prompt.test.ts: six tests from those captures (catalogue, filtered and moved, narrow pane, every name herdr gives the pane, a single remaining model, a dismissed or quoted list), plus a route-table case answering OmO's list. 240 pass.
  • End to end on a real OmO in the test herdr: /model opened a card with 20 models naming claude-opus-4-8; answering claude-haiku-4-5 switched OmO's footer to it, and the card went away.
  • bun run typecheck: pass. bun run test:unit on macOS: the only failure is scripts/phone-setup.test.ts, which fails the same way on main on that machine.

The search box over this card is a separate PR that builds on this one.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

OmO draws pi's model selector with its keys over the filter line instead of under
the catalogue (enter select ctrl+s select as default ctrl+f favorite), and ticks
the model in use after its name. herdr names the pane omo, or pi, claude or nothing,
and the pi reader only looked under pi's own hint, so the list never became a card.

parseOmoModel anchors on OmO's hint and the filter line under it, reads the rows
with piModelRows (a narrow pane's wrapped provider tail joins back, now with OmO's
tick too), strips the tick from the label, and answers like pi's list: moves read
back by the model's name before the Enter. A filter that leaves one model is still
a list. The card is live only while the list sits over OmO's notes, one rule and its
footer.

Checked with OmO 5.1.30 in an isolated herdr session: /model opens the card (20
models, the one in use named), answering it switches OmO's footer to the picked
model, and the card goes.

📝 Summary

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • OmO’s /model list now appears in chat as a selectable card. Choosing a model applies it to the current session, and the card identifies the model in use.
    • The list follows OmO’s on-screen layout, including fullscreen and narrow phone panes, so model options remain available in those views.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified that OmO can answer its session’s /model list; other menus still require Terminal.

OmO /model screens are parsed as chat answer prompts. The answer flow checks the cursor position and confirms the selected model row. Tests, the guide, and the changelog cover this flow.

Changes: OmO model-list chat support

Parse OmO model lists
server/prompt.ts, server/prompt.test.ts
The parser reads visible model rows, handles wrapped hints and provider names, and identifies the current model when marked. It accepts a single result and rejects incomplete lists or unrelated trailing output.

OmO model prompts enter the answer routes. Answer handling rereads the menu and checks the cursor against the target model row. The guide and changelog describe chat access to the list and its display behavior.

Thanks! Closing this one to keep review in one place: #942 builds on it and already contains this commit as its first, so the OmO /model card will be reviewed (and, if accepted, merged) through #942.

> **Maintainer update (ae28a37):** the model-list search (the card's
search box and `POST /api/pane/prompt/filter`) was dropped; this PR now
carries only OmO's `/model` card (the first commit, from #941). The
description below is the original.

Builds on #941 (OmO's `/model` card); its first commit is that PR.
Please review that one first.

## Change

pi's and OmO's `/model` narrow as a name is typed into their filter
line. The card had no way to type there, and pi's card went away as soon
as the line held anything (`PI_MODEL_FILTER_RE` only matched an empty
`>`).

- A model-list card now carries what its filter line holds:
`InteractivePrompt.filter = { text }`. The card draws a search box over
its rows.
- `POST /api/pane/prompt/filter { pane_id, prompt_id, text }` types the
box's search into the list's own filter line, replacing what it held.
Only what differs is erased and typed. It runs in the pane's turn
(`serialize`) and only while a model list is on screen; anywhere else
the keys would land in the agent's prompt, so it answers 409
`prompt_changed`. It then answers the list as it shows. Text must be
printable and at most 64 characters.
- pi's reader now reads a filter line with text in it. A filter that
leaves one model, or none, stays a card. With none, the question reads
`No model matches "…"` and there are no rows, so the box is not lost
mid-word.
- While a model list is open the chat reads the prompt every 500 ms
instead of 2 s, so a filter typed in the terminal shows on the card too.
A searched list stays the one card (it keeps its occurrence), so the box
keeps its text and focus while the rows change under it.
- `prompt/filter` is added to the remote-PC proxy allowlist. `Search
models` is translated in the four dictionaries.

## Validation

- `server/prompt.test.ts`: pi and OmO captures with a filter typed, and
with a filter that matches nothing (`gptzzzz`), from pi 1.1.0 and OmO
5.1.30 in an isolated herdr session.
- `server/prompt-filter.contract.test.ts`: a small program drawing OmO's
list and filtering as keys arrive. The search narrows it, replaces a
word, empties it and comes back. Once the list is closed the search is
refused with 409, and a control character with 400.
- In a browser on a real OmO (Chrome on macOS): `/model` showed the card
with its box; typing `gpt` narrowed it to OmO's 17 gpt rows in about 0.5
s with the box keeping focus; tapping `gpt-5.5` switched OmO to it.
- `bun run generate:types --check`, `bun run typecheck`: pass. `bun run
test:unit` on macOS: the only failure is `scripts/phone-setup.test.ts`,
which fails the same way on `main` on that machine.
