feat(relay): open the hosted relay app on sign-in and a PC dashboard - #3284
The hosted relay app (app.ovis.sh) now opens on a sign-in screen, and after sign-in shows a dashboard to manage your PCs.
Sign-in first. Signed out, the front page shows only the sign-in (GitHub, plus Apple when the account service offers it). Two quiet links stay: "Pair with a QR or code", and, only when this device already holds pairings, "Continue without an account (N PCs)". A pairing link still opens straight into pairing.
Dashboard. Signed in (or continuing without an account): a summary strip (Ready / Needs you / Offline, relays in use, what needs attention), a connection map, and a PC table with Open, Add, Join, Update or Details per PC and a filter. The account directory is read again when the page comes into view and every 60 s while it stays visible.
Connection map. This device, each relay in use and each PC. Only PCs the account directory saw lately get a moving wire ("Seen lately"); a PC paired without an account shows "Paired · status unknown"; offline PCs are dotted. The map reports account last-seen state, not live connections: the front page has no open sessions. Under 760 px it becomes a route list; reduced motion stops all movement; animations pause off-screen.
Add a PC. A step sheet keeps both existing join flows unchanged: a PC new in the account types the number it shows and is approved on that PC; any other PC asks through the account, shows this device's digits and is approved by another account member. Joining still navigates to the PC's page, which continues the sheet from a one-time marker scoped to that PC.
Phones. Sticky top bar, a bottom tab bar with 44 px targets, stacked summary and the table as rows.
Translations. New dashboard dictionary part with ja, ko and zh; keys shared across parts moved to the base dictionaries as src/lib/i18n.test.ts requires.
Docs. DESIGN.md, docs/account.md and docs/relay.md describe the sign-in-first front page; changelog fragment changelog.d/relay-dashboard.md.
The visual approach (hub-and-orbit map, flowing dashes on live wires, step bars) borrows technique, not code, from GOAT's Fleet view.
Validation
bun run check fast on the PR head: exit 0 at bf1b447 (workflow syntax, generated types and themes, typecheck, build, unit tests 12984 pass / 0 fail / 50 skip)
bun scripts/relay-shell-browser-qa.ts: exit 0 on repeated local runs, with a new dashboard section that drives, in a real browser with an in-memory account service and real PCs on the Bun relay: the sign-in-only first screen, local QR pairing, "Seen lately" after the PC joins the account, relay stopped, offline by the browser clock (row, summary, attention list and map agree on the visible text), adding a new PC by its typed number, joining through the account from a second device, sign-out, reduced motion, map animation frames, and the 390 px Tab order. Every capture is checked for horizontal overflow at 1440 and 390, dark and light.
In the CI runner image (herdr-ci-runner:local): bun scripts/relay-e2e-regression.ts exit 0 (relay media QA included) and bun scripts/settings-pages-demo-regression.ts exit 0 (it covers AccountPcs.tsx, which Settings shares). This ran on 94f841a plus the QA script; the later commits change the dashboard's header count and phone layout only.
Unit tests for the new parts: RelayShell, RelayMap, AddPcSheet, src/lib/relay/dashboard, src/lib/relay/shell, src/lib/i18n (including a check that the ja/ko/zh "Ready" words never say "connected") and both conventions.test.ts.
Manual QA by hand in a fresh browser profile: every flow above at 1440 and 390, dark and light, in en and ko, and keyboard-only; two defects found there (the account count and the phone Tab order) are fixed in this PR.
Not run: bun run check full, Windows and macOS jobs, and relay-panel-regression (it has no entry point of its own; it runs inside ui-regression.ts in CI). Not checked in the browser: ja and zh layouts at 390, themes other than the default.
Follow-ups (not in this PR)
Already on main: after Open then Change PC, each row says "Connecting…" for up to about 40 s while the summary says Ready (the 60 s probe throttle in src/lib/relay/shell.tsx).
Already on main: the relay-stopped pairing step in scripts/relay-shell-browser-qa.ts (pairFrom, the connecting wait) can miss a screen that comes and goes at once; waiting for the confirm screen to detach instead would fix it.
Already on main: joinAccount's warning logs only the error's name, so an occasional "did not join the account yet TypeError" during QA could not be diagnosed.
The signed-in front page has no "Pair with a QR or code" link, so docs/relay.md's wording about pairing from the front page fits signed-out users only.
The signed-in and no-account front page is now a dashboard: summary strip, PC table with Open/Add/Join/Update/Details and a filter, and the directory refreshed when the page is visible. Adding a PC opens a step sheet that keeps both join modes (typed number on a new PC, comparison approved by an account member), continued on the PC's page after the join navigates. The connection map component (RelayMap) draws this device, each relay and the PCs, animating only PCs the account saw lately. Plan todos 4, 5 and 6.
Mounts the connection map on the dashboard and lays the dashboard out for phones: sticky top bar, a bottom tab bar with 44px targets, a stacked summary and the PC table as rows. Plan todos 13 and 7.
…n the sheet
Code review follow-ups: one directory read per refresh even when two triggers land together; the Add-a-PC sheet shows how a join failed, with the shell's failure titles and actions from one shared helper; one relay host helper; the dashboard's Add/Join choice is the one used; DESIGN.md and docs/account.md describe the dashboard and sheet.
Added a dashboard with PC and relay summaries, a connection map, PC status and actions, and options to add or join a PC.
The hosted front page now offers sign-in and QR/code pairing, with a link to locally paired PCs for signed-out visitors.
Dashboard information refreshes when opened, when the page becomes visible, and periodically while visible.
On smaller screens, navigation becomes a bottom tab bar and the connection map switches to a route list.
Documentation
Updated PC pairing and account sign-in instructions.
The hosted relay shell now provides sign-in, account and local dashboards, and Add-a-PC pairing flows. It adds dashboard data refresh, relay connection maps, responsive layouts, translations, and browser QA coverage.

Summary
Directory data and refresh src/lib/relay/dashboard.ts, src/lib/relay/dashboard.test.ts, src/lib/relay/shell.tsx, src/lib/relay/shell.test.tsx
The relay library builds dashboard PC and relay data. The shell merges directory entries with local pairings and refreshes visible signed-in dashboard data on load, visibility changes, and a 60-second interval.
The shell separates sign-in from saved-PC access and renders account or local views in the dashboard. The documentation, tests, and relay-shell translations cover the changed entry points and dashboard actions.
The sheet supports adding a PC, joining an existing PC, and QR/code pairing. The shell carries matching join state across navigation and uses shared failure text.
The dashboard adds summaries, filters, PC actions, and responsive navigation. The connection map adds relay and PC placement, connection states, animated traffic, and a small-screen route list.
The QA script exercises sign-in, pairing, dashboard, offline, responsive, accessibility, and animation behavior against a fake account service and relay-connected test PCs.
devswha/ovis#3277: The PR adds Add-a-PC sheet flows, but the provided change summaries do not show a fix for the reported hanging relay pass setup or the separate retry issue.
Possibly related PRs
devswha/ovis#3148: This PR changes the PC state-label helper that PR #3148 exported for the unified device list.
devswha/ovis#2509: This PR extends the hosted relay shell and changes its saved-PC front page, sign-in, pairing, and failure flows.
Merge Risk: Moderate · up to bf1b4
Resolve the refresh races and account-labeling ambiguity before merging: account switches can display mismatched information, older responses can hide PCs, and expired sign-in can interrupt pairing. Pairing guidance and browser QA also need corrections. The remaining map and status issues are bounded presentation problems.

Test refresh completion after sign-out.
Hold a refresh, sign out, then release a response with a different directory. Assert that the view remains signed out and directoryRelays remains unchanged. The current overlap test does not cover this transition.

Bind dashboard refreshes to the displayed account.
If another tab switches accounts, a refresh can show the new account’s PCs under the previous provider. A switch during the read can also produce incorrect linked-device metadata. Bind the directory response to the displayed account and reconcile account changes before publishing it.

Update the refresh flow around account.session(), account.listPcs(), and pcsOf()
to verify that the directory response belongs to the account currently
displayed, not merely that accountView is unchanged. Reconcile account changes
across the asynchronous reads before publishing pcs and directory, keeping
linked-device metadata derived from the same account as the directory.

Retry queued approvals after a successful refresh.
If an add fails to post and the account service later recovers, dashboard refreshes never retry it. Other PCs can continue refusing the approved device until the page reloads or another approval triggers a retry. Retry queued adds after a successful refresh.

The refresh flow updates the PC list without retrying queued add approvals.
After `account.listPcs()` and `pcsOf()` complete successfully, invoke the
existing queued-add retry mechanism, while preserving the stale-view checks and
ensuring failed refreshes do not trigger retries.

If the account service remains unavailable, a PC can stay Ready and “Seen lately” after its last sighting exceeds 15 minutes. The map continues to show a live wire. Recalculate retained states independently of successful directory reads.

Update the refresh flow around the failed-read branch that assigns accountView
so retained PC states are recalculated from their last-sighting times even when
directory reads fail. After 15 minutes without a sighting, stop presenting a PC
as Ready or “Seen lately” and remove its live-wire indication, while preserving
retained state for PCs still within that window.

Keep the pairing screen when a refresh signs out.
If a directory refresh reports an expired sign-in while the user types a pairing code, showFront() replaces the form and discards the input. Record the signed-out state without replacing an active pairing screen, and guard publication across the store.list() await.
