fix(terminal): send the terminal's own replies to the attach while input is queued - #2895
On a herdr-core server the attach asks the viewer's xterm for its colours, cursor colour and cell size (and turns focus reports on), and CoreAttachSession.write takes the answers out of what reaches the program. While a key-bar key was on its way through pane.send_keys, the pane had a queue, and server/core/input.ts sent every input frame through pane.send_text. The terminal's answers were then typed into the program as keystrokes.
A frame the browser's terminal made itself (automatic) and made only of such answers (OSC 10/11/12 colour replies, CSI 6;h;w t, DA1, focus in/out) now keeps the attach input path in the pane's turn, as queued mouse reports already do (#667). The attach takes them out, and on herdr they reach the program that asked, as unqueued answers do. A paste of the same bytes (not automatic), queries (OSC 11;?), keys and answers mixed with typing still go through send_text as before.
Tests
server/keys-lifecycle.contract.test.ts: the issue's reply bytes queued behind a held key go to the attach, not to pane.send_text. It failed before the fix (the bytes went through send_text) and passes now.
server/keys-lifecycle.contract.test.ts: the same bytes pasted (not automatic) are still typed through pane.send_text.
server/input-guard.test.ts: isTerminalReply accepts the answers and rejects typing, keys, queries and mixed frames.
Validation
bun test server/input-guard.test.ts server/keys-lifecycle.contract.test.ts server/herdr-core/attach-session.test.ts: 39 pass.
Skipped: the issue's browser scripts against an isolated hc 0.1.17. In this setup the harness never reached input (hc answered hello with non-JSON, so the key bar stayed disabled), on main and with the fix alike.
…put is queued
On herdr-core the attach asks the viewer's xterm for its colours and
focus, and takes the answers out of what reaches the program. While a
key-bar key was on its way through pane.send_keys, every input frame
went through pane.send_text instead, so those answers were typed into
the program. Reply-only frames now keep the attach input path, as mouse
reports already do.

Bug Fixes
Terminal responses, including color and focus information, are no longer entered as text when they arrive while a key-bar key is in transit.
Pasted text containing the same response-like sequences continues to be handled as pasted text.
Queued automatic terminal replies are now recognized and sent through the attach path while input is queued. Other queued text continues through paneSendText. Tests cover recognized replies and distinguish automatic replies from pasted text.
The input guard recognizes supported terminal replies, including concatenated replies. Tests also cover malformed replies and replies mixed with other text.
Route queued replies to the attach server/core/input.ts, server/keys-lifecycle.contract.test.ts, changelog.d/core-replies-queued-input.md
Queued automatic terminal replies use the attach path, and attach writes receive the frame’s automatic flag. Contract tests distinguish automatic replies from pasted text. The changelog records the fix.
devswha/ovis#2447 — Adds CoreAttachSession reply handling used by this PR’s queued attach path.
Merge Risk: Low · previous review 3b2cb
Queued terminal replies follow the intended routing. Merge risk is low; additional tests should protect automatic-flag forwarding and ensure automatic typing still uses pane.send_text.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
Objective [#2816]: on herdr-core, terminal answers to the attach's questions must reach the attach while a key-bar key is queued, not the program. Evidence at head: server/core/input.ts (queued branch) sets viaAttach = isMouseReport(text) || (message.automatic === true && isTerminalReply(text)) and routes viaAttach frames to sighting.write(text, automatic) instead of paneSendText. server/input-guard.ts isTerminalReply uses an anchored regex that accepts OSC 10/11/12 colour replies (BEL or ST terminator, no '?' query), CSI 6;h;w t cell-size reports, CSI ?...c DA1 replies and CSI I / CSI O focus reports, and rejects typing, keys, queries (OSC 11;?) and mixed frames. server/herdr-core/attach-session.ts write() runs takeReplies on the data before anything reaches the program, so the reply bytes from the issue are consumed by the attach and nothing is sent to the program. Non-automatic (pasted) bytes and mixed frames still go through paneSendText. The unqueued path already used sighting.write with the automatic flag, so the queued path now matches it, as the issue expects. Remaining uncertainty: the test files were not inspected in this review; the test results are taken from the PR description. The browser scripts against hc 0.1.17 were not run; they are manual repro steps and not coding requirements. The known limitation (a program's own DA1 answer is taken by the attach) already exists on the unqueued path and is not a requirement of #2816.

Explanation
Changed files: server/core/input.ts (queued routing for automatic terminal replies and passing the automatic flag to sighting.write), server/input-guard.ts (new isTerminalReply), server/input-guard.test.ts and server/keys-lifecycle.contract.test.ts (tests for those paths), and changelog.d/core-replies-queued-input.md (changelog entry). All are tied to #2816. One side effect: in the queued branch, sighting.write now receives message.automatic for mouse reports too. The unqueued branch already passes that flag for all frames, so this aligns the two paths and is not an unrelated change. It is noted for review, not a demonstrated regression. No unrelated changes were found.

Review round (head 47d6024): omo CLEAR. Codex (Terra, xhigh) reported two MEDIUMs:
A paste of the exact reply bytes (or OSC 11;text CR text BEL) queued behind a key would go to the attach and be taken out as a reply. Fixed in the second commit: only frames the browser's terminal marks automatic take the attach path, and the colour-reply match no longer allows CR/LF. A contract test shows that a paste of the same bytes is still typed through pane.send_text.
A program's own DA1 query (CSI c) asked while input is queued gets its answer taken out by CoreAttachSession. Not changed here:takeReplies already drops every DA1 answer on the unqueued path, so this PR makes queued input behave like unqueued input. Telling the attach's own DA1 apart from a program's needs request tracking in attach-session.ts, which is out of scope for this fix.
Validation after the fix round: bun test server/input-guard.test.ts server/keys-lifecycle.contract.test.ts server/herdr-core/attach-session.test.ts 39 pass. bun run check fast is green except the src/lib/i18n.test.ts failure that is already on main (fixed by #2886).
Add routing cases for automatic frames that are not terminal replies.
The contract tests only check automatic frames that contain terminal replies. A handler that routes every automatic frame to the attach still passes. Change the helper's attach branch to apply only to automatic replies. Then add cases for an automatic frame with typing and an automatic frame that mixes a reply with typing. Both must expect send_text.

unchanged. Add queuedKeys cases for an automatic typing-only frame and an
automatic frame mixing REPLIES with typing, and assert both use send_text.
The queued-reply assertions run on the PTY path, where the write wrapper drops automatic. A change that drops the flag at server/core/input.ts:158 still passes them. No test checks that queued input passes automatic to CoreAttachSession.write. Add a herdr-core case that asserts the forwarded flag.
