fix(chat): bind a Codex pane whose answers are all short to its rollout - #284
Conversation
A pane herdr names no session for is bound by an answer visible on its screen, and only one of 64 letters and digits counted. A session of one-line answers never bound, so the chat stayed empty (#283). Several short answers of one rollout found on screen in the rollout's order now count together; each needs 16 letters and digits, and the match must still be unique among the candidates.

The review of #284 showed short matches taking over the long-answer matcher's callers: a fork's inherited answers bound its parent, one answer's links counted as several answers, generic lines vetoed a unique long match, short evidence rebound a pane and claimed threads for other panes, and link splitting made the search unbounded. matchCodexTranscript is back to its main behaviour. The short rule is matchShortCodexAnswers, used only when a pane has no session hint, no resume and no binding: the rollout's newest whole answers (the very newest may be missing), at least two, found bottom-up in order, 16 letters and digits each, 64 with 12 distinct together, unique among the candidates and not shared with another candidate. It is never stored as a binding.

…e-limit guard, linear link stripping Second review of #284: - Collision veto checks substrings, not array equality: a fork that inherits short answers from its parent is caught even when its own newest turns are different. - Collision evidence uses parseCodexTranscript(text, Infinity), the whole supplied history, not the newest 100 turns. A candidate whose history was byte-truncated at the 1 MiB read budget is marked cut and vetoes unconditionally. - The SQL query fetches LIMIT 33; when 33 rows come back the candidate set is incomplete and the short fallback abstains. It also abstains when any candidate path could not be read. - withoutLinkTargets is a linear scan instead of a backtracking regex. Only the newest 5 answers are preprocessed for scoring; the rest contribute only to collision evidence as raw text.

…ing or unread, and match links as shown Third review of #284: - A thread of the cwd whose rollout cannot be resolved makes the candidate list incomplete: it was dropped before the completeness check. - A candidate continuing a rollout that was not found (history_base with no holder) counts as cut, like one past the read budget: codexHistoryComplete. - Codex shows [label](target) as 'label (target)', so an answer is matched as its stretches around link targets, in order, each target taking no more room than in the rollout, and still counts as one answer. - A test that two candidates showing that way, sharing nothing, give no answer.

962-962: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick winExclude rollouts bound to other panes from the short-answer result. This is still unresolved.
candidatesstill includes rollouts thatboundRolloutsholds for other panes. The problem occurs under these conditions:

- Pane B has no binding and no session.
- Pane B shows R's recent short answers, for example as quoted text.
In that case
matchShortCodexAnswersreturns R, and pane B displays the conversation of pane A. Issue#283excludes this outcome. Keep all candidates for ambiguity detection, and filter only the result.Proposed fix

- an answer with a link is no evidence: its pieces around the link are short common words, and matched another conversation's screen - any conversation of the folder that continues another (a fork, a backtrack) or is past the read budget, the matching one included, makes the fallback give up; read from the rollout itself, nothing cached - another candidate that said a shown answer, alone or inside a longer one, vetoes again

Fixes #283.
What was wrong
A Codex pane herdr names no session for (no
agent_session, noresume <id>in its argv) is bound to its rollout by an answer that shows on the pane's screen, and only an answer of 64 letters or digits counted (answerAnchor,matchCodexTranscriptinserver/codex.ts). A session whose answers are all short (40, 29 and 38 in the report) never bound:GET /api/pane/conversationanswered{"source":"scrollback","turns":[]}and the chat stayed empty until a longer answer happened to be rendered. What changes
The one-answer rule is untouched. A rollout now also matches when several of its recent short answers show on screen one after another, in the rollout's order, and add up to the same 64 letters or digits (12 distinct). Each piece needs 16 at least, so "Done" and "Fixed it." never add up, and the match must still be the only one among the candidates.
Not chosen: accepting one shorter answer when a single candidate holds it. Being the only one of a few dozen candidates says little for a 30-character line, and a pane whose own rollout is not among them would be bound to whichever holds that sentence.

It also covers: the last answer not rendered yet, one short answer alone, lines out of order, eight "Done. Fixed it." lines, two rollouts sharing the same short answers, and short answers above the welcome card. Not checked
