Comprehension Scope is a public, minimal, non-ideological protocol for helping people make sense of the world in high-entropy information environments.
It is not a worldview, not a fact-checker, and not a curriculum.
It is a small set of repeatable questions that anyone can apply to any claim, source, or situation to preserve their agency and expand their scope of comprehension.
Help people make sense of the world with a lightweight scaffold intended to:
- reduce cognitive overload while preserving relevant context
- strengthen individual agency
- improve the quality of collective decisions
These are design goals, not demonstrated outcomes. Usefulness and accessibility need evaluation in the contexts where people use the protocol.
The core of this project lives in protocol.md.
It is designed to be:
- Broadly accessible: intended for use across cultures, politics, and education levels
- Open-ended: questions guide reflection without prescribing a conclusion
- Lightweight: start with one or two questions; careful evaluation may take longer
- Free: no accounts, no products, no tracking
You can:
- read it
- print it
- translate it
- adapt it
- teach it
- Start with one claim, one article, one video, one conversation.
- Walk through the protocol questions in
protocol.md, or start with the worked example. - Notice how your sense of clarity, risk, and agency changes.
- Share it with others if it helps.
There is no platform, no app, and no signup.
This is meant to be infrastructure, not a product.
Use Comprehension Scope independently, on paper or in conversation. No account, software installation, or adoption of the wider stack is required.
The questions can help someone examine a claim recorded in the Cognous Evidence Registry or evidence presented in a governance review. They do not verify facts or signatures, certify a source, grant decision authority, or enforce runtime behavior. The stack hub maintains component contracts and release status; this protocol does not establish either.
Propose a clarification, translation, or worked example through a repository issue or pull request. Include the passage you would change, why it is confusing, and any sources supporting a factual claim. Label hypothetical examples and distinguish intended benefits from measured results.
Keep the five-question core lightweight and optional. Contributions should not require an account or platform to use the protocol, prescribe a worldview, or imply that answering the questions verifies a claim.
