Phoenix FAQ Bot

A small RAG/FAQ bot that answers questions about Arize Phoenix. The system prompt is stored in the Phoenix prompt registry — making it the target of an autonomous "Prompt SRE" agent that watches this bot's traces and proposes prompt fixes via PR when quality regresses.

This repo is supporting infrastructure for the Phoenix Prompt SRE hackathon submission.

Local dev

python -m venv .venv
source .venv/bin/activate
pip install -r target_app/requirements.txt
uvicorn target_app.main:app --reload

Then curl -X POST http://localhost:8000/ask -d '{"question": "How do I install Phoenix?"}' -H "Content-Type: application/json".

Architecture

  • FastAPI app, single /ask endpoint.
  • Gemini 2.5 Flash for generation.
  • ~30 curated Phoenix docs chunks loaded as in-context knowledge (no vector store — total context < 8K tokens).
  • System prompt fetched from Phoenix prompt registry (phoenix-faq-bot.system, latest version tagged production).
  • OpenInference instrumentation — every /ask call produces a Phoenix trace.
