When will the first stable fork release be published to Maven Central? #52
Thank you for keeping the Parallel Consumer project alive.
We currently use the original Confluent Parallel Consumer in production and are evaluating migration to this maintained fork. I noticed the new Maven coordinates (io.github.astubbs.parallelconsumer) and the recent publishing work, but I could not find a stable released version available yet.
Could you clarify:
When do you expect the first stable version of the fork to be published to Maven Central?
Will that version be 0.6.0.0, or is another version planned?
Is there any current commit/tag you already consider safe for production testing?
Are there expected API/package changes when migrating from the latest Confluent release?
Hi there! I'm back at the office now so have resumed programming work on my projects including this one. I plan to release the first cut of this fork early next week.
Yes I plan to cut 0.6 with this work.
Tag: not I this repo
4: no breaking changes for 0.6 except for the package name and dropping java 8 support. I think jumping to 17 as the new min. What Java version do you need?
Hi we are also using the abandoned project so this is very promising. Thanks! We also use mainly java 21 / 25. I think 17 / 19 is a safe min. Let me know if you need any help maintaining this project.
Amazing, please let us know when its available (i did check maven central today but it doesn't appear to be available yet). As for contributing, what is the best way to get in contact and is there anything you want me to start looking at? From what I (claude) can tell most of the bugs that were in 0.5.3.3 have been fixed in this release.
Hi there! The release will be out today with many small fixes and improvements.
And yes I definitely need help! :)
Ok ok, I' got a bit carried away. I hope to have the release out this week. It was a lot of work to set up the fork, but that's mostly all done now and there are a lot of fixes coming in for the initial version. So hang tight - help is on the way!

@matthall-TM As for helping out, the lowest hanging fruit atm is replying to people who posted issues and answering their questions or triaging incoming reports. Claude has done of a lot of that now and I need to close the circle. But I'm focused on getting the initial release out first, then I'll think more about how to collaborate.
One quite independent thing you could have a go at is submitting a PR to migrate the README documentation into a proper documentation site, something like readthedocs etc. Very Claudable... #208 : Publish the docs as a versioned documentation site, not one 1578-line README.
BTW @matthall-TM , you can always contact me through my email which is in every git commit ;)
Also - I dunno if this is your thing, but another very independent bit of work that would be super cool to have, is #215 - a module for a GUI that would show all the important metrics (to being with).
@renatojava, @matthall-TM - it is out. v0.6.0.0 is the fork's first stable release, on Maven Central. The coordinates changed with the fork - on Maven Central it is now:
(parallel-consumer-vertx, parallel-consumer-reactor and parallel-consumer-mutiny likewise.) The Java package is bz.stub.parallelconsumer too, so imports change with it - one command rewrites them (GNU sed; on macOS use sed -i ''):
find . -name '*.java' -exec sed -i 's/io\.confluent\.parallelconsumer/bz.stub.parallelconsumer/g' {} +
The release notes carry the whole account: a stability release, every known critical defect fixed with a regression guard, two named exceptions in transactional mode, and what comes next. Closing this, since the question is answered.

Hello, Thanks for feedback.
We use java 25 with latest parallel consumer library, and it would be a good news if the release supports virtual threads

Follow #197 for the next release
