📝 WalkthroughWalkthroughBuilt-in browser operations now use local IPC regardless of runtime pin, and the service resolves live windows for project collections. The Files banner and terminal machine markers now follow offline status, with the banner also retained for embedded workbenches. ChangesBuilt-in browser routing

🔴 Browser opens in the wrong window
When another window owns the project, liveWindowForProjectRoot ignores the requesting pane and selects that window. Browser controls then operate on a view outside the pane.
Learn more
The project resolver selects a window already bound to the root before considering the window supplying the IPC request. A Browser panel sends its own project scope and bounds through getStatus and setBounds. With two app windows, its WebContentsView can therefore attach to a different window and receive bounds measured in the requesting window. The existing collection routing needs to distinguish a renderer's visible pane from an agent's windowless request.
Example: Window A is bound to /projects/a; window B is bound to /projects/b and displays a chat for /projects/a. Opening Browser in B selects A, so its tab appears in A, not B.
Recommended fix: Prioritize the source window for renderer-owned, visible Browser operations, and define how the same project collection is shared or transferred between windows without duplicating persisted tabs. Keep windowless agent routing stable with the chosen host.

🔴 Agent browser tabs disappear after focus changes
When focus moves between unbound windows, getFallbackWindowForProjectRoot selects a different host for the same project. Windowless agent calls then create another collection, while status reads lose the original tabs.
Learn more
Windowless browser requests use liveWindowForProjectRoot each time, without remembering where a project-scoped collection was first created. The runtime's status mirror uses readOnlyServiceForProjectRoot, which also chooses the fallback anew before looking up its window-specific key. As soon as focus changes between windows with no matching binding or known local root, the second window becomes the fallback and reports no existing collection. A later browser command creates a second copy of the same collection, so operations cannot reliably address the original tabs.
Example: Two windows are remotely bound, one focused. An agent opens a tab for /projects/local in the focused window; focus moves to the other window. The daemon status mirror reports an unopened pane and the next agent open creates a fresh collection there.
Recommended fix: Check existing live window services for the project's collection before falling back to focus, and retain one stable host for windowless requests and read-only status until that host closes.

🟡 Cross-machine browser detaches on projectless reads
For a cross-machine pane, activeService reselects its bound collection after serviceForProjectRoot marks the displayed collection active. Projectless browser reads then detach the visible browser view.
Learn more
A cross-machine Browser pane marks its project-scoped collection active when its renderer requests status or bounds. The unrelated activeService still resolves the active window by calling serviceForWindow(activeWindow), which always marks the window's bound collection active and detaches the cross-machine collection. The result is a browser view that disappears until another pane request attaches it again.
Example: A remotely bound window opens a local chat's browser pane. A project-less browser status query invokes activeService; the bound window's collection becomes active and the local chat's visible view detaches.
Recommended fix: Make activeService honor activeServiceKeyByWindow for an active window before deriving its bound collection, while preserving the explicit binding reset when the project tab changes.

Split the browser window lookup into a strict bound lookup (read paths, phone mirror state) and a creating host lookup: the caller's own window, then bound, then the window already hosting the collection, then the app fallback. Projectless calls keep the collection a window is showing. Scope the close-tool browser calls to the pinned root, compare fallback roots with pathsEqual, one offline-only marker predicate, and refresh the comments and docs that still described local-pin browser routing and the online amber marker. …#1374) * fix(mobile): phase 4 stage 0 — connect frames, tall rows, roster, Windows drain - iOS: the connect path reads the database off the main actor. The project-row poll ran on main every 200 ms while the first catch-up batch held the database queue (14-83 ms frames after a connect). - iOS: a finished answer of 1,500+ characters renders as one row per markdown block, and a user message of 2,000+ characters renders as pieces split at blank lines that draw as one bubble. One tall row cost 25-60 ms to measure on the main thread when an older page came in. Markdown for new rows outside the tail is warmed off main. - Desktop: the in-process debug sync host gets a roster provider, so a current host always sends `rosterPeer` and the phone no longer shows "Update ADE" for it. - Windows: the NSIS setup registers the brain with `brain start` (role cto), not `serve --install-service` (role agent), which refused the desktop app and the phone after a silent install. - Tests: a win32-only test runs the real launcher with the brain output log (compile, long line with no newline, stderr, rotation); the steer test is a table over delivered/inline x live/snapshot/cached. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(mobile): Lanes shows every machine (phase 4 stage 1) The Lanes tab lists the focused repository's lanes on every paired machine, the way the desktop does since #1364. - A lane of another machine keeps a namespaced id (`fleet|<machine>|<lane>`) in every screen. `routeOrStripFleetTarget` takes the tag off the args and sends the command to that machine's checkout; a lanes reply from another machine comes back with its lane ids tagged again. So every lane and git action in the detail screens works on a remote lane unchanged. A command for such a lane is never queued and never reaches the focused machine. - Other machines' lanes live in memory (`LaneRemoteMachinesModel`): read with `lanes.refreshSnapshots` every 30 s while the tab is visible, on pull to refresh, and when a machine's live link changes, each read bounded to 8 s. A machine with no live link shows its last roster, dimmed, with no actions. - Rows carry a machine chip when the list spans machines; filter chips (All / each machine) sit on top; a lane's long-press menu has "Show only <machine>". Each machine keeps its own stack tree. - Add lane asks for the machine first when there is more than one (least busy first); new and imported lanes go to that machine's project. - Lane detail of a remote lane stays in memory, not in ade.db. Not yet verified on a device: this needs the phone and a second machine. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(mobile): lane rows like desktop, equal machines in Settings, lane top bar - Lanes: rows are drawn like the Work list and the desktop lane sidebar: flat, a lane glyph tile and name in the lane's color, the lane's chats as one status mark (waiting / running), and a muted detail line with the machine chip (top-level rows only), branch, PR, dirty and ahead/behind. An open lane keeps a thin bar in its color. - Lanes: "+ Lane" moves into the top bar; the machine filter chips carry the machine's symbol and a live dot. - Settings: with more than one machine connected, the connection card lists every connected machine as one equal row (the focused one with its route) instead of a title for one and a small list for the rest. Machine rows no longer put a CONNECTED pill beside the name, which cut long names; the status sits in the detail line. - Diagnostics: `res` samples (memory footprint, CPU %, thermal state) every 2 s and `frame.stall` for any frame of 100 ms or more. - Debug fixture screens `lanes-machines` and `settings-machines`. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(mobile): PRs link lanes on every machine (phase 4 stage 2) The PRs tab follows the desktop model: the PR list stays GitHub-sourced from the focused machine, and the PR-to-lane links of every live machine are merged in. - Each live machine's checkout answers `prs.list` (machine-marked project); its reply's lane ids come back namespaced, like `lanes.*` replies. Read every 30 s while the tab is visible, on refresh, and when a machine's live link changes, 8 s per read, memory only. The focused machine's link always wins; an offline machine adds nothing and shows no error. - Rows and the detail header name the lane's machine; lane-bound actions (rebase, clean up after merge, link) go to the lane's machine by its namespaced id; GitHub actions stay on the focused machine. - Create lane from PR asks for the machine (least busy first) and runs the preflight and the create on the chosen machine. - Open lane (and Work's Go to lane) finds a lane of another machine in the Lanes tab's rows from that machine. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(mobile): Lanes cancel banner, dead-machine retry loop, stall probe, PR numbers - Lanes: a cancelled reload (a newer reload or a view restart took over) no longer shows "Swift.CancellationError" in the error card. An empty list on the focused machine no longer hides the other machines' lanes, and a machine filter with no rows shows the empty state instead of a bare header. - Fleet retry: a machine that does not answer is dialed again after 5 s, 15 s, 1 min and 5 min, then the phone stops at "Offline" until the user retries, the app opens, the network changes, or the account shows the machine online. Before, a switched-off machine was dialed every 5 minutes for as long as the app was open. - Connect candidates: a real iPhone no longer dials loopback routes, and the host no longer advertises virtual adapters (WSL / Hyper-V vEthernet, Docker and VM bridges). - Diagnostics: frame gaps across the background are not counted as stalls; `main.slow` times saveProfile and applyDiscoveredHosts (reconnect-path suspects for the 0.8–2 s freezes). - PR numbers render verbatim ("#1367", not "#1,367"). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(mobile): flat design base; Settings machines follow the desktop model Design base (Views/Components/ADEFlat.swift): content is flat like the desktop (plain List on the page background, hairlines between rows, small uppercase section labels, mono for numbers), controls stay Liquid Glass. Shared pieces: section header, inline notice with Retry, state badge, chip, live dot, and a glass toast. Settings: - An account row on top (its page has Sign out), then CONNECTED ("N of 4 live", + to pair) and AVAILABLE, then App and About. The Connected card and the second machine list are gone, so no machine shows twice. - Connect adds a fleet link; it no longer moves the phone's focus. A machine never paired on this phone pairs through the account, and the phone goes back to the primary machine after it. Connecting a 5th live machine asks which one to disconnect. - Each machine has a page: status, projects, accounts and presets, connection help, Disconnect / Make primary / Retry, and "Forget on this phone" and "Remove from account" (account directory DELETE, like the desktop). - The fleet keeps only the machines the user connected live; the first run keeps today's live set. A machine that ran out of retries shows "Offline" with Retry, and the account showing it online dials it again. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(mobile): new chat picks the machine; Files and CTO reach other machines New chat (phase 4 pass 2): - A machine dropdown before the lane dropdown, both left aligned. The page opens on the context lane's machine, else the primary one. A machine that is not connected is listed apart; picking it reconnects it. A change of machine loads that machine's lanes (its Primary lane is picked), keeps the draft, and — when the machine has no account for the chosen model's provider — switches to that machine's first provider and says so. - A chat on another machine is created there (auto-lane goes through that machine's lanes.create, then chat.create) and recorded as that machine's chat. CLI sessions stay on the primary machine for now. Files on other machines (stage 3): - The Files workspace list adds this project's lanes on the other live machines ("lane · machine"). A lane's workspace id is its namespaced lane id; file requests on it go to that machine, in the project that holds the lane, never queued for the primary machine. - Host: a file_request naming another open project on the machine runs in that project (brain executor `executeFileRequest`), instead of being rejected; the file switch is shared (`runSyncFileServiceRequest`). - Hosts stop advertising virtual adapters is in an earlier commit; the fleet's file requests now carry the project id. CTO home machine (stage 4): - `cto.getHomeMachine` / `cto.setHomeMachine` (optional mobile actions) read and write the account setting the desktop uses (`repo:<origin>`, `cto.homeMachine`). The CTO tab reads it on open; CTO state, session, attention, memory and identity go to the home machine when it is another live machine, and the CTO thread is that machine's chat. CTO settings get a "Home machine" picker. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat(mobile): PRs tab rebuilt on the flat design base, like the desktop List: "PRs ▾" menu (GitHub / Workflows, filters, sort), search on pull-down, one Open / Merged / Closed segmented control with counts, date groups ("YESTERDAY 4 merged · +19k −6.6k") with the history spinner in the header. Rows copy the desktop: #number (state color) + title, avatar, "→ main", lane chip (machine icon only off the primary machine), +/−. Long-press shows a preview with Open lane / Open in GitHub / Copy link. Detail: flat header (number · author · age, state badge, title, base ← head, lane and machine chips, "+ Lane"), Overview / Files / Checks tabs, a slim glass next-step bar with one main action (never a sheet over the page), everything else in ⋯. - Overview: the PR body cleaned like the desktop (HTML comments stripped, CodeRabbit / Cursor / Devin blocks moved to their bot), OPEN THREADS as rows that open a thread page with reply and resolve, then activity with push dividers and one digest row per bot ("Devin · 10 threads · all resolved · 2 comments"). - Files: grouped by folder with status letter and +/−; a diff page with previous / next. A merged PR whose snapshot the phone never stored now asks the host once per visit, so its files show. - Checks: summary, FAILING / RUNNING / PASSED (folded), a page per check. Tests: table tests for the body cleaner and the bot digest (both proven to fail when broken). Tests of removed code were deleted. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(mobile): Files workspace picker as a full sheet; say why CTO home is locked - Files: the workspace picker opens a searchable sheet grouped by machine ("This machine", then each other machine) with normal-size rows, instead of a 300-pt popover that iOS squeezed into a few tiny rows. The trigger text is larger. Fixture: `-adePreviewScreen files-picker`. - CTO settings: when the primary machine's ADE lacks cto.setHomeMachine (released builds), the Home machine row says to update ADE there instead of silently doing nothing. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> * quality: apply review fixes Correctness: - CTO calls fail closed when the project's CTO home is another machine the phone cannot reach (they no longer answer from the primary machine's CTO), the home is read per project, and a machine known only by address can no longer be recorded as the home. cto.setHomeMachine is callable by paired phones (it was gated like a host-local credential writer). - Fleet: connecting a machine that ran out of retries dials it again; the primary machine never counts toward (or is trimmed from) the connected-set limit; disconnecting the primary, or giving its place to a new machine, takes it out of the connected set; given-up machines retry only when the account shows them going from offline to online. - Remote Lanes and PR links: a read from before a project switch can no longer land on the new project (results keyed by checkout, generation counter instead of a busy flag). - Files: workspaces grouped by machine key (not by name); a remote lane whose machine became primary is read by its plain id. - Host: the WSL / Default Switch Hyper-V adapters are skipped, other vEthernet adapters kept (they can carry the real LAN address); the mobile external-workspace check runs once per file request; the CTO home record is validated on read. - PR detail counts failing checks the way the Checks tab does (startup_failure). Maintainability: - Dead code removed: SettingsMachineFleet.swift, the header's unused connected-machines list, PrMergeChecklist and the merge-gate model and the PR helpers only tests used (with those tests); PrMergeGateCard.swift is now PrGlassPalette.swift. - One owner each: machine icon (`machineSymbol`, account device type first), route labels, provider names, fleet key builder, marked project id, primary machine name, machine choice sort/subtitle and create target, account-directory request helper, CTO home record (apps/desktop/src/shared/ctoHomeMachine.ts), file-request runner (apps/ade-cli/src/services/sync/syncFileRequests.ts), fleet `isLive` / `connect`, remote lane repo lookup. - Service work out of views: pair-and-keep-primary and forget-on-this-phone are SyncService calls; CTO home and remote-lane/PR code moved out of SyncService.swift into SyncService+CtoHome.swift / +RemoteLanes.swift; PR lane sheets into PrLaneSheets.swift; the Settings fixture into Views/Settings. - A machine's Settings error clears once that machine is live again. Summary
Opening a project on several machines should just work: every tab lists every machine's sessions, and their tools behave the same wherever the session lives. Since #1364 two things broke that:
localRuntime.callAction). The runtime's browser gate only admits an agent's own chat with its browser capability, so the desktop window was refused every call:built_in_browser.setBounds is not permitted for this caller. Agents failed too.ade browserfound no window bound to the chat's project root:No ADE browser window is open for project: /Users/arul/ADE.Changes
preload.ts:builtInBrowser.*never routes on a pin. Every call is local IPC scoped byprojectRoot. A remote pin still rewriteslocalhostonto a port forward.builtInBrowserService.ts: when no window is bound to a project, its browser is hosted in the window that asked for it (the pane that shows the session), and that pane becomes the window's active one. An agent call with no source window falls back togetFallbackWindowForProjectRoot.main.ts: the fallback is an ADE app window that opened this checkout, then the focused one, then any. Hidden recording/demo windows are skipped.LaneMachineMarker, the session-card machine glyph, and the Files "whose disk" bar now show only for an offline machine (the one case where rows stop working). The embedded Files pane keeps its bar for "Back to this computer".Verification

Note
Medium Risk
Changes core built-in browser window selection and removes pin-based routing, which could affect multi-window/multi-checkout edge cases; UI marker behavior is lower risk.
Overview
Fixes cross-machine sessions where the built-in browser failed when a chat’s project binding didn’t match the tab’s machine pin.
Built-in browser: Preload stops sending
builtInBrowser.*through pinned local runtimes; calls always use local IPC scoped byprojectRoot(remote pins still rewrite loopback URLs viawithLocalizedBrowserUrl). In main, when no window is bound to that project, the service hosts the browser in the caller’s window (the pane showing the session) and treats that pane as active; agent calls without a source window use a newgetFallbackWindowForProjectRoot(checkout opener → focused ADE window → any, excluding hidden renderers).UI: Amber machine markers on lanes, session cards, and the Files “whose disk” bar now appear only for offline machines (plus the embedded Files bar when routing matters), so online cross-machine sessions aren’t mislabeled as “elsewhere.”
