DAG list filters (status, run state, favorites) not persisted across navigation in Airflow 3.x

What happened and how to reproduce it?

In Airflow 3.x, the following filters on the DAGs list page reset every time you navigate away and come back:

• DAG status (All / Active / Paused)
• DAG run state (Queued / Running / Success / Failed)
• Favorites (All / Favorited / Unfavorited)
• Required Actions

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open the DAGs list page
2. Apply any of the filters above
3. Navigate to another page (click a DAG, go to Home, Assets, etc.)
4. Come back to the DAGs list
5. All filters are gone, reset to defaults

What you think should happen instead?

Filters should survive navigation. The tag filter had the same issue (#60590) and was fixed, so these should follow the same logic.

Thanks for the report.

For now, when you return to the Dags list, you can use the browser’s back button to restore the previous state because the UI state is reflected in the URL. I think persisting the filters is required

Thanks for the workaround. Using the browser back button does restore state, but it does not solve the underlying issue since users navigating through the app (for example DAG details or home) still lose their filter context when returning to the DAGs list. The expectation is that filters persist across in-app navigation.

Yes, thanks for the call out. We should improve persisting the filters beyond just the back button. I'll work on this one.

IT's now possible to save preset filters to retrieve a specific view later. Or even set it as default.

Hey @pierrejeambrun, I don't think #68484 actually closes this issue.

This issue was about the DAG list page. If I set filters (status, run state, favorites, required actions), leave the page, and come back, they're gone. That used to work fine in Airflow 2. And tags already work like this today on the same page: if I filter by tag, navigate away, and come back, the tag filter is still there. I just wanted the other filters to behave the same way. Not a whole "save a named preset" feature.

#68484 is a different thing, and from what I can tell it only shows up on pages like DAG runs / task instances. The DAG list still resets.

Can we reopen this? #67442 was the PR that actually tried to fix this bug, and it got closed as stale when the plan shifted to named views. That doesn't fix what I reported.

@pedro-cf My bad, I read this too fast. Indeed the 'dag' page is excluded from preset filters because it had a different shape. We need to extend it there as well.
