I just wanted to report that I tried to give this a go using let b:match_words = '<:>,<tag>:</tag>,#region:#endregion' but, unfortunately, it doesn't seem to do anything when I try to use it with that tag.
I swore I tried to get this working before and made an issue about it, but then I saw there were no issues in this repo yet, so I must have been thinking of something else.
