Error during Replace

After 'Replace' operation, I get "Error creating backup of file - File is in use. [File: c:\develop\projparts\application.vcx] [Result Id: 1013]" error.

The error is well deserved, as this is the application's vcx file, which is in use.
NBD. I know that and ignore the message but it would be nice if you can program around it.
After all, I've acknowledged that my action is not reversible.

As expected. Since, as you noted, the vcx is in use, GF cannot change it.

This is unfortunate. Food for thought: Is there some way to work around this issue? Perhaps: 1. Save the Path\Name of the vcx;; Close & Update it; Reopen it. That would be pretty close to the current option of running GF on the Current Dir OR 2. Open the objects in a 'quasi editor', update, and save OR, at least, 'red flag' those entries in the list that can't be processed (and not select them) Bob

This is what is supposed to happen and what is what I have always seen.

I have never been able to get to that message about the backup not working; I assume that there must be some sequence of steps to do so, but I have not been able to find them.

As for your other two suggestions, I think they are out of GF's scope.
