The phone example (cargo run -p tcode-ui --example phone) needs a paired host to show real threads, which makes screenshots of phone surfaces slow to set up (the design pass had to pair against a headless host on a side port). A --local flag that starts an in-process host on a throwaway TCODE_DATA_DIR and attaches the shell to it, without pairing, lets every UI phase capture phone screenshots from synthetic data. Document it in CONTRIBUTING.md under Verifying real behaviour. This landed inside #647 without an issue; this issue records it so the scope is explicit.
