Summary

  • Adds metaphone() for PHP 8.2-compatible phonetic encoding (1–2 args, ASCII subset).
  • VM via VmMetaphone; JIT/AOT via phpc_metaphone.c and StringMetaphone (no PHP internal_* wrappers).
  • Compliance PHPT + AOT fixture + unit tests.

  • vendor/bin/phpunit test/unit/MetaphoneBuiltinTest.php
  • vendor/bin/phpunit test/compliance/MetaphoneVMTest.php
  • vendor/bin/phpunit test/aot/AotTest.php --filter metaphone
  • vendor/bin/phpunit test/compliance/MetaphoneJITTest.php (Docker harness; LLVM 9)
