Problem

php-src registers two names per API for historical compatibility:

#3383 tracks canonical registration + user wrappers, but legacy aliases are also required for framework code and php-src tests. Verified 2026-06-06 — both canonical and alias missing today:

Scope (this repo)

Implement canonical stream_wrapper_register() in #3383 first; this issue is the alias slice (can land in same PR if worker claims both).

Done when

• function_exists('stream_register_wrapper') and stream_wrapper_unregister() true
• Alias calls behave identically to canonical names on repro from Stdlib: stream_wrapper_register() — custom stream protocol handlers (ext/standard/streams.c parity) #3383
• ./script/ci-fast.sh --filter stream_wrapper green
