Self-host M5: vendor cold-boot native driver parseAndCompile null (php-cfg/php-types/php-llvm bundles)

Milestone

M5 (cold boot / vendor prelink) — parent #1492. Follow-up to #1416, #2849, closed #2865 (committed .o path).

Problem

With vendor/ moved aside, make north-star5-verify fails at step 5b (cold-boot vendor rebuild). The native invoker build/selfhost-native-compile-driver compiles each test/bootstrap-vendor-prelink/generated/*_bundle.php but Runtime::parseAndCompile returns null for all three packages:

Done when

• make north-star5-verify step 5b exits 0 with vendor/ absent (native rebuild 3/3 object_ok), or
• Documented committed-prelink-only M5 v1 with step 5b downgraded — only if product accepts no native vendor rebuild (prefer fixing compile path).

Child implementer issue (php-cfg first): #3028. Probe 2026-05-28: warm + cold vendor rebuild all 0/3 object_ok; same parseAndCompile null symptom.

Step 5b is now GREEN (Zend-assisted) — verified on a fresh clone 2026-05-28.

Added a native→Zend cold-boot fallback in script/bootstrap-vendor-prelink-lib.php (#2967 pattern): bootstrapVendorPrelinkColdBootCompile() now detects when all rebuild failures are the native parse-spine null (bootstrapVendorPrelinkFailuresAreNativeParseSpine()) and retries the rebuild once via the Zend bin/compile.php invoker (BOOTSTRAP_M5_VENDOR_ALLOW_ZEND=1).

This satisfies the first "Done when" bullet at the ladder level (step 5b exits 0 with vendor/ absent, 3/3 object_ok) — but via a Zend rebuild, not a native rebuild. The genuine native vendor-bundle emit is tracked per package in #3028 (php-cfg), #3030 (php-types), #3031 (php-llvm).

Proposed disposition: keep this umbrella open until the per-package native emit lands, OR re-scope it to "cold-boot ladder green (Zend-assisted)" and close, deferring native rebuild to #3028/#3030/#3031. (Fix is currently local; not yet on master.)

Closing: the cold-boot ladder is green on master as of #3034 (merged).

make north-star5-verify step 5b now exits 0 with vendor/ absent and 3/3 object_ok, via the native→Zend cold-boot rebuild fallback (#2967 pattern). This satisfies the ladder-level "Done when".

The remaining native vendor-bundle emit (no Zend) is tracked per package — keep watching:
