Blocks do not mirror tags to their items

Steps to Reproduce and Observed Behavior

my code loops through every item in a players inventory and calls this function in order to see what tags the item has

But when it gets called ingame it only finds the item index but not the tags of that item

Are you sure you are querying an item that does have tags?
Also note that block tags and item tags are different.

ah it could be because i am querying a block for its itemtags

although a blocks item should mirror its blocks tags

I think that would fill the tooltip with irrelevant information, like .mineable, .cuttable, .slate.

what if someone is given a alien block
how would they know what tool breaks it
