Summary

Cloud workspaces become ordinary sidebar rows, the workspace row gets a quieter single-indicator design, and creating a cloud workspace no longer needs an environment set up first.

Rollout. The new sidebar is on when cloud-workspaces is on and either the sidebar-inline-cloud-workspaces flag is on or the person turned on Settings → Experimental → New sidebar. The setting follows the flag until someone sets it; then their choice wins. With it off, the sidebar is exactly today's: the separate Cloud section and the current row (kept as DashboardSidebarLegacyExpandedWorkspaceRow until the flag goes).

Cloud workspaces in projects (new sidebar)

Each cloud workspace files under the project of its primary GitHub repo; a repo with no local checkout gets a stand-in project.
Cloud rows are placed like worktrees, so they drag, pin and join groups alongside local rows. A repo that resolves later moves the row to the real project without touching order or pin; a new workspace files under its repo at once.
"Show" filter in the Projects sort menu: all, local, cloud.

Row design (new sidebar)

One leading glyph by precedence: sandbox state (failed dot, creating wave), live agent state, then the PR icon by state, else a small idle dot. The slot stays a PR button whenever the row has one.
Trailing: queued badge, then a host glyph on cloud and remote rows; the ports chip sits at the far right of the title line. Hover swaps in the shortcut and ✕/Archive. Cloud rows archive instead of delete.

Creating a cloud workspace (behind cloud-workspaces, as today)

The new-workspace screen shows the project picker on Cloud too, and the environment picker starts on Default: the project's environment for its repo, or one the API makes on first use. cloudWorkspace.create takes repositoryId as an alternative to environmentId (additive); ensureDefaultEnvironment reuses the oldest environment carrying the repo or records one named after it, org-wide, in the caller's nearest region.
The environment list is scoped to the project's repo; "New environment" opens the editor prefilled from the project.
Environment editor: Name, then repositories as removable chips with an Add list that opens below; region, visibility and opening repo under Advanced. When the project's repo isn't visible to the org's GitHub App, a notice says why and offers Configure GitHub App, which opens the installation's settings; the list refetches when the window regains focus. integration.github.getInstallation also returns the installation id (additive).
Picker menus use a step smaller type and rounded highlights; environments get a container icon; the sidebar and host picker share one cloud glyph.

Test plan

Verified in the running desktop app over CDP (dark theme):

New sidebar on: cloud rows under their repo's project; drag within a project and past local rows; pin/unpin; Show filter all/local/cloud
New sidebar off (flag overridden): today's row and the separate Cloud section
Experimental → New sidebar: appears with cloud workspaces on, follows the flag until set, records on/off
Default environment end to end: a project whose repo had no environment created one on submit, the workspace recorded the repo, and the row filed under that project
Environment editor prefilled from the project; Add list opens below; missing-repo notice with Configure GitHub App for a repo on another GitHub account
tsc clean for desktop and trpc; biome clean on the 82 changed files; check:i18n clean, new strings translated in all 16 locales
Tests: sidebar, new-workspace modal, settings and persisted-key suites (592 pass); trpc environment, cloud-workspace and integration suites (47 pass). The one local failure, main's useComposerDictation test, fails only under Bun 1.3.14 and passes under the repo's 1.4.2.

The project picker shows on Cloud too, with a From GitHub group for the App's repositories — a repo no project checks out becomes a stand-in project — and Configure GitHub App or Connect GitHub in its footer; picking a repository never replaces the device's last project. The environment picker starts on Default — the project's environment for its repo, or one the API makes on first use. cloudWorkspace.create takes repositoryId as an alternative to environmentId; the environment list keeps only environments that open on the project's repo, submit is blocked while the lists load, and two first workspaces share one default environment.
Only projects with a GitHub repository are offered on Cloud; a named environment must still open on the chosen repository at submit, else submit falls back to the repository target. With No project on Cloud, only Default is offered and Create is blocked.
"New environment" opens the editor prefilled from the project; repositories are removable chips with an Add list; region, visibility and the opening repo sit under Advanced; a repo the GitHub App can't see shows a notice that offers Configure GitHub App, opening the installation's settings.

Cloud rows stay out of bulk selection, whose actions are host-backed.

The ports (and agents) card opens to the right of a 20px trigger, so the diagonal path to it crosses a gap where neither is hovered and the card closed mid-travel. The chip hover hook now holds the close while the pointer stays inside the cone from where it left the trigger to the card's near edge, giving up the moment it strays or after the deadline; arriving on the card hands over to the card's own leave. The geometry and tracking come out of the workspace hover-card provider into a shared util, which the provider now uses too.

…show a dead sandbox on the row The repo list behind the sidebar is cached for minutes, so a cloud workspace created after the last fetch had no known repo and filed under the unknown-repo stand-in until the next fetch. Fetch once per id the map doesn't know; a workspace that truly has no repo can't loop it. The row now carries the sandbox's own state: a failed box shows the red dot and a box still being made shows the soft wave, ahead of agent and PR state, since nothing runs in either.

Status is now the same dot, coloured. The leading slot is the PR's button whenever the row has one, whatever glyph precedence puts in it, with the tooltip naming both the PR and the live state. The tooltip copy says what the click does (it opens the PR pane, not GitHub), and "Creating…" is translated.

…e, and create one from the picker The new-workspace screen hid the project picker on the cloud host. Both pickers now sit side by side: the project narrows the environments to those that check out its repository, and the environment dropdown gains a New environment entry that opens the editor seeded with the project's name and repository, then selects what it saved.

…as none The environment picker showed a bare "No environments" search miss. With nothing to pick, the trigger now reads "Set up environment" and the popover is a short panel that names the repository, says what an environment is for, and offers Create environment.

…epository is missing The environment editor names the project's repository when the org's GitHub App cannot see it, says whether it is unshared or on another account, and offers Configure GitHub App, which opens the installation's settings on GitHub. The repository dropdown has the same entry. The list refetches when the window regains focus, so a newly shared repository selects itself. integration.github.getInstallation now also returns the GitHub installation id (additive).

…editor A new environment opens with only name and repositories, filled from the project, and one line for region and visibility behind Customize. The config location follows the first repository until chosen. The repository picker and the missing-repository notice move into their own components, the dialog gets a tighter header, labelled fields and a footer bar, and the agent option reads Set up with an agent.

The editor is a single list — repository, name, region, visibility — with every row prefilled, so a new environment needs nothing but the create button. Config location (now "Opens on") appears only with more than one repository or when editing. The header icon, blurb and Customize toggle go; refresh moves into the repository dropdown; the missing-repository notice is one line with an inline action.

- A cloud workspace can't start on an unrelated repository: on the cloud host only projects with a GitHub repository are offered and one without blocks submit, and the server reuses an environment only when it opens on the requested repository. - The + on a stand-in project opens the cloud form on that repository. - Picking a repository on the cloud no longer replaces the device's last project. - The Local filter keeps projects with no workspaces; the host filter applies to Pinned and Sessions too. - Dropping a cloud row into a tag folder never writes to its sandbox. - A failed repositories lookup still places cloud rows (under the Cloud stand-in); a failed environment list no longer leaves the pill loading. - Rows read the new-sidebar gate from context and rename routes by the row's own host type, instead of every row subscribing to the flags and the cloud list. - The cloud row builder takes only shown rows; sameItems and the avatar rule are shared; the lead indicator exposes data-lead for tests.

New groups are tag-backed, and a cloud row can't join a tag-backed folder, so its menu drops New group / Create new group and lists only older folders under Move to group (hidden when there are none). The prop's doc comment now says what a cloud row can do.

Resolve conflicts with cloud workspaces in the sidebar (ParadevAI#8528): - useDashboardSidebarData: keep main's ready flag on the project rows and the PR's section placements. - Project context menu: "Move to section" and "Remove from section" also work on a cloud-repo stand-in, which has a placement row like any project; the checkout-only items stay hidden for it. - DashboardSidebar: render the project lane under main's host filter. Only a search hides and opens sections. The host filter keeps their collapse state, as it does for projects, so a new section stays visible to rename.
