Part of removing cross-file test leaks so suites do not depend on bun test --isolate. mock.module is process-wide in bun: without --isolate, a fake reaches every test file that loads later.

Leaks fixed

Leaker Victim Fix
scripts/add and scripts/manage tests mocked lib/config resolve-auth.test.ts ("Not logged in") the home directory is read per call, so tests write a real config into a temp home
workspaces/create, agents/create, workspaces/get, browser/open tests mocked lib/host-target, lib/host-workspaces, lib/cloud-workspaces, lib/upload-attachments workspaces/archive test the tests run the real resolution code against a local Bun.serve that speaks tRPC (lib/host/test-helpers.ts)
lib/host/spawn.test.ts mocked node:child_process any later file spawnHostService(options, spawnProcess = spawn)
lib/config.test.ts mocked node:fs any later file writeConfig(config, fs = {...})
status/command.test.ts (in-file order) itself removes the manifest after each test
workspaces/get test itself, when SUPERSET_WORKSPACE_ID is set in the shell saves, clears and restores the variable

No mock.module call remains in packages/cli. No test was deleted (374 before and after).

Production changes

  • lib/config.ts: the SUPERSET_HOME_DIR and SUPERSET_CONFIG_PATH constants are replaced by getSupersetConfigPath() and the existing getSupersetHomeDir(). The variable does not change during a CLI run, so a per-call read gives the same value.
  • lib/host/spawn.ts, lib/config.ts: one optional parameter each, defaulting to the real function.
  • lib/host/manifest.ts, lib/analytics.ts, two cloud-workspace resolvers, start and config check: same paths, computed per call.

Verification

bun 1.4.2, bun test --randomize --seed N, seeds 1-12: 374 pass, 0 fail without --isolate and with it. One --isolate run (seed 7) hung once on bun 1.4.2 and passed on three reruns; that is the sync-spawn bug that #8311 works around in CI. Repo typecheck and biome pass.

One behaviour change in a test: agents create is now tested with --local and not --host host-1.

Summary by cubic

Removes all mock.module calls from the CLI tests so the suite passes in any file order without bun test --isolate. mock.module is process-wide in bun, so fakes from one test file leaked into files that loaded later and caused order-dependent failures.

  • The CLI now reads SUPERSET_HOME_DIR and the config path per call instead of once at import, so tests write a real config into a temp home instead of faking lib/config.
  • Command tests run against a real local tRPC server (lib/host/test-helpers.ts), replacing mocks of lib/host-target, lib/host-workspaces, and lib/upload-attachments.
  • spawnHostService and writeConfig take the function they call (spawn, fs methods) as an optional parameter, removing the node:child_process and node:fs module mocks.
  • The status test removes its manifest after each test; workspaces get saves, clears, and restores SUPERSET_WORKSPACE_ID.
  • agents create is now tested with --local instead of --host host-1.

No test was deleted (374 before and after). Typecheck and biome pass.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Improvements
    • The CLI now consistently uses the current configuration and home-directory paths when checking settings, starting services, and accessing cached data.
  • Tests
    • Updated CLI command and configuration tests to use more realistic local service and filesystem setups. This improves coverage of workspace, browser, script, and configuration scenarios.

mock.module is process-wide in bun. Without --isolate, fakes of lib/config,
lib/host-target and others reached later test files (resolve-auth and
workspaces archive failed, depending on order).

The CLI read SUPERSET_HOME_DIR once at import, which is why tests faked the
config module. It is now read per call, so tests write a real config into a
temp home. Host commands are tested against a local server that speaks the
real protocol. spawnHostService and writeConfig take the function they call
as an optional parameter.

📝 Walkthrough

Walkthrough

The CLI now resolves Superset home and config paths through runtime getters. Cache, manifest, and command code use those getters. Tests replace several module mocks with a local host-service helper and injectable filesystem and process functions.

Changes

CLI runtime paths and test infrastructure

Configuration, cache, manifest, and command code obtain paths through getters instead of imported path constants. writeConfig accepts an optional filesystem adapter, and config tests use it.
Exercise CLI commands through test seams

A local host-service helper dispatches test requests to registered procedures. Command tests use the helper or configuration setup instead of module mocks. spawnHostService accepts an injected spawn function, and its tests use that seam.

RetriggerConfidence Score: 5/5

[Medium risk] Refactors test setup to remove module mocks and use real config.

The PR appears safe to merge; no actionable issue was found.

What we checked:

  • Tests use temporary homes: withTempSupersetHome sets a fresh home before each test. It restores the previous value and removes the temporary files afterward.

Summary

This PR removes process-wide module mocks from the CLI tests.

  • Config and host paths are now read when needed.
  • Command tests use a local HTTP server and fresh temporary homes.
  • Config writes and host startup accept optional test functions.
  • No actionable issue was found.

saddlepaddle explicitly noted that the agent creation tests now use --local rather than --host.

22-31: 📐 Maintainability & Code Quality | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

Harden request parsing in the test server.

A POST body may be invalid JSON. A batch request may also arrive without a matching inputs[index] entry. Both cases already degrade safely (the first throws a 500 from fetch, the second falls back to {}). Tests that expect a tRPC error shape would then see a non-tRPC failure. This only affects test diagnostics, so no change is required now.

* test: run suites without --isolate and remove three flaky tests

The cross-file leaks that --isolate hid are fixed (#8314, #8315, #8316,
#8319), so each package's suite now runs in one process. The desktop suite
takes about 38 s without the flag and about 73 s with it.

apps/relay still had one leak: host-tunnel.test.ts replaced partyserver
with a stub that has no getServerByName, which broke index.test.ts in some
file orders. The test passes against the real module, so the stub is gone.

Removed as flaky:
- workspace-fs: FsWatcherManager resumes a subscription after the root is
  deleted and recreated
- i18n: locale changes preserve state and focus (provider-state)
- agent-setup: Pi completion notifications, which poll up to 1 s for a
  detached script

* test(trpc): keep the opt-in Postgres watch test out of the shared suite

It sets DATABASE_URL and then imports the db client. In one process the
client may already exist, so the test would write its fixtures to the
database the first file connected to. As an .integration.ts file it runs
only when named, in its own process, like the other opt-in suites.
