Summary

  • Adds Pages to the mobile app: a native list, a WebView viewer, and the element-picker comment flow (remove / comment / quick feedback / approve).
  • The shared comment runtime is unchanged — host and frame already talk over postMessage, never the DOM, so a WebView is a drop-in for desktop's iframe.

Why / Context

Pages were desktop-only. The viewer is the whole point of the feature on a phone: an agent publishes a page, and you want to read it and leave feedback without opening a laptop.

How It Works

Viewer. page.pull already returns a signed viewUrl on the usercontent worker — exactly what desktop's <iframe src> loads (PageFrame.tsx:24 on the desktop side). Mobile loads the same URL in a WebView, so there is no auth or asset-resolution problem: the tRPC call is already authenticated and the page keeps its own origin.

Bridge. The runtime posts with parent.postMessage (page-comments-runtime.ts:69). In a WebView the page is the top document, so parent === window and that lands as a message event on its own window. An injected listener forwards those to React Native; host messages go back as a plain window.postMessage, which the runtime's own listener (line 242) already handles. Nothing in packages/shared changed.

Comment mode. The runtime's pick is driven by a click with clientX/Y (line 191) — hover only drives the highlight preview — so a tap already produces a pick with anchor + rect. No new gesture, no runtime change.

Manual QA Checklist

Validated on iPhone 16e simulator against production data.

  • Pages list renders with thumbnails, owner, visibility icon, date
  • Pull-to-refresh works
  • Tapping a page opens the viewer; page renders with assets
  • Links inside a page open in the system browser, not the frame
  • Focus (comment-mode) toolbar button toggles the picker
  • Tapping a block highlights it and shows the toolbar
  • Toolbar clamps inside the frame near edges
  • Quick feedback sheet posts a preset
  • Write-a-comment sheet posts and the pin appears
  • All comments sheet lists threads; tapping opens the thread
  • Thread opens scrolled to the composer
  • Not verified: resolve/reopen round-trip, agent-authored comment rendering, a page whose viewUrl ticket expires while open

Testing

  • bun run typecheck — 38/38 tasks pass
  • bun run lint — clean
  • bun run check:i18n — all 17 locales compile --strict
  • bunx sherif — clean
  • bun test apps/mobile/screens/.../pages — 11 pass (new: pinLayout, toolbarPlacement)

bun test repo-wide has 40 failures, all in packages/agent-setup, the node-pty patch guard, and host-service process/socket utils — tests that spawn processes or open sockets. None touch this diff, but I did not verify them against a clean tree.

Design Decisions

  • WebView on viewUrl, not inlined HTML. A page version is a document plus assets served by the worker, so source={{ html }} would break relative asset refs and lose the page's own origin.
  • Sheets as formSheet routes per apps/mobile/AGENTS.md, with a transient zustand store carrying the pick. Route params would have to carry a 2000-char anchor path.
  • Absolute dates instead of formatRelativeTime. Hermes ships no Intl.RelativeTimeFormat, and apps/mobile/lib/intl-polyfills installs only Locale and PluralRules. formatDate uses Intl.DateTimeFormat, which Hermes has. Adding the polyfill means a new dependency plus 16 locale-data imports — deferred deliberately.

Known Limitations

Follow-ups

Summary by cubic

Adds native mobile browsing and commenting for published Pages. Links to same-origin /page/<slug> URLs that previously opened in Safari now open an in-app preview sheet; all other links still open externally.

  • Uses the existing signed viewUrl and comment runtime through a WebView bridge.
  • Supports element comments, quick feedback, replies, threads, pins, and optimistic resolve with rollback; remove and approve still post preset text as regular comments.
  • Pages now live in the organization sheet, with org switching on its own screen.
  • Comment composition is a native pill composer; sharing is an in-app sheet with copy link, access, and version, read-only for non-creators.
  • Keeps page links and subframes in the reader, retries failed or expired loads with a fresh ticket, preserves scroll position when expanding a preview, and lets only http/https links open externally while worker redirects for expired tickets pass through.
  • Clips off-screen pins, caches pulled pages per slug and organization, distinguishes offline from empty in the list, and surfaces resolve failures.
  • Adds loading, empty, error, retry, pull-to-refresh, localized copy, pin layout, toolbar placement, and link parsing tests.
  • Keeps the Pages shortcut available when the selected host is offline.

Written for commit 695925f. Summary will update on new commits.

Review in cubic

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features
    • Added mobile page browsing with persistent filters for all, team, or personal pages.
    • Added page sharing controls, visibility settings, version selection, and link copying.
    • Added comment threads, replies, inline comment pins, quick feedback, and review actions.
    • Added clearer offline, loading, and error states.
    • Added organization switching and improved page navigation.
  • Localization
    • Added and updated translations for page, comment, review, sharing, and connection-related messages across supported languages.
  • Bug Fixes
    • CLI tables now display full URLs without truncation while preserving layout.
    • Mobile link handling now validates URLs before opening them.

Pages were desktop-only. The list and the viewer port cleanly because the
page is served from its own origin and the comment runtime talks to its host
over postMessage, never the DOM — so a WebView is a drop-in for the iframe.

The list is native (page.list already returns thumbnailUrl and viewUrl). The
viewer is a WebView on the same signed viewUrl the desktop iframe loads, with
an injected bridge: the runtime posts to `parent`, which in a WebView is the
page's own window, so a listener forwards those frames to React Native and
host messages go back as a plain window.postMessage. The shared runtime is
unchanged.

Comment mode is the same element picker as desktop — the runtime's `pick`
rides on a click, which a tap already produces. Picking opens a toolbar with
remove / comment / quick feedback / approve, and the sheets post through the
existing pageComment router.

Two mobile-only wrinkles: the runtime emits rects from a requestAnimationFrame
that iOS throttles while a sheet covers the WebView, so anchors are resent on
focus as well as on `ready`; and Hermes ships no Intl.RelativeTimeFormat, so
timestamps are absolute.

Mobile Pages adds viewing, sharing, and commenting workflows, but unresolved interactions can duplicate comments, disrupt feedback or page viewing, and show misleading UI states. Several localized labels also remain unclear. These issues should be addressed or explicitly accepted before merge.

Use precise Traditional Chinese labels for these actions.

The mobile SelectionToolbar exposes all three messages as actions on selected content. 這裡 (“here”) describes a location and can make the selected target unclear. Use these translations:

Review follow-ups on the mobile pages surface:

- In-page jump links and subframes load in the WebView instead of ejecting
the reader to Safari with the signed ticket in the URL.
- Clip the pin overlay so a pin on an element scrolled out of view cannot
draw over the navigation bar and stay tappable.
- Quick feedback posts before the sheet closes, reports a failure, and
ignores a second tap during the dismiss animation.
- Compose and reply alert on failure; resolving is optimistic with
rollback, so the toolbar icon no longer lags a round-trip.
- A failed frame load gets a message and a retry that re-pulls the page
for a fresh ticket; loaded state is tracked per URL.
- Centre pins on their anchor point, the placement pinPointOf's inset
assumes and the one desktop uses.
- Spinner rather than "no comments" while the sheets' queries are loading,
and isLoading (not isPending) for the disabled pages list query.
- Cache the pulled page for five minutes and keep the rects object stable
when nothing moved, so sheets and scrolling stop re-fetching and
  re-rendering.

Use consistent terminology for mobile page comments.

The mobile page-comment flow uses reactie in its composer, empty state, and missing-thread message, but these failure alerts use opmerking. This switches terminology within the same user flow.

A page URL tapped in a terminal went to Safari, because the terminal
handed every link straight to Linking.openURL. Links to pages in this
organization now open in the app.

The pages routes move from (home) up to (authenticated), beside
workspace/*, because a route in (home)'s stack cannot present over the
workspace a link was tapped in — moving them keeps the terminal
underneath the sheet and behind the back button. The move is a rename;
only the route entries and the pathnames change.

pageSlugFromUrl recognises a page link by exact origin and a /page/<slug>
path, and useOpenLink sends those to the new pages/[slug]/preview sheet
while everything else still goes to the browser. The terminal and the
page frame both route their links through it, so a link from one page to
another stays in the app too.

The sheet renders the reader at 0.6 or full height with commenting
intact, plus an expand button that replaces it with the full-screen
route, carrying scroll position across through the runtime's
restore-scroll message.

Avoid cubic collision checks during scrolling.

For colocated pins, each new pin retries every prior stack index and each retry scans placed. This is O(n³). PageDetailScreen recalculates this layout as rects update during scrolling, so pages with many overlapping threads can drop frames.

Cache stack assignments while relative pin positions do not change, or use an indexed collision layout.

Pages was reachable from a button on the workspace list, which put it in the
middle of a flow it has nothing to do with. It now lives in the organization
sheet alongside switching and settings — the shelf Tasks and Automations will
want too — and org switching moves to its own screen behind a row.

The comment surfaces were web components in a sheet: a bordered textarea and
a filled block button that read as a form, not an app. They follow
LineCommentSheet now — PressableScale, the repo's input metrics, and a pill
composer carrying your avatar. The quoted anchor is gone from both sheets;
the block stays outlined on the page behind them, which says it better.

Sharing was the OS share sheet, which can only pass a URL along. It is now
desktop's share popover as a sheet — copy link, who has access, general
access, shared version — with the two selects rendered as rows, because a
picker that opens another picker is the wrong shape on a phone.

All comments takes its structure from the comment lists people already read
on a phone: flat rows, replies indented under their root, the rest folded
behind a count. The list row moves visibility next to the title so the second
line can carry the owner.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NsuEGxLcyB3KtF4y1XX8Ts
The paywall gate allowed exactly "/organizations", so moving org switching to
its own route sealed unpaid accounts out of the one sheet App Review requires
them to reach. It matches the prefix now.

Scroll restore never ran: focus bumps the frame epoch before the WebView
exists, so the guard passed, the message went into a document with no runtime,
and the ref latched. It waits for the frame to load instead.

Only a page's creator may change visibility or shared version, so the share
sheet renders read-only for everyone else rather than answering a tap with
silence. Same for a page that has not loaded.

The composer cleared its text before awaiting and swallowed the error, so a
failed post looked like a dead button and took the comment with it. It clears
on success and surfaces the failure, and the compose sheet throws rather than
resolving without posting.

Also: same-origin links inside a published bundle stay in the WebView instead
of ejecting to Safari; the picked block keeps its outline while a sheet is
open, which is what the sheet no longer quoting the text relies on; quick
feedback gets a close button; the list distinguishes offline from empty; the
page sheets take the glass header the other sheets use.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NsuEGxLcyB3KtF4y1XX8Ts
A published page is user-authored, and its links reached Linking.openURL with
no scheme check — anything the OS can launch, not just a web page. openUrl now
takes http and https only.

The usercontent Worker answers an expired or invalid ticket with a 302 to the
app, which is a cross-origin non-click navigation the frame was cancelling, so
the reader was left looking at nothing. Only clicks leave for the browser now.

Resolving a comment swallowed its error, and the pulled page was cached
per-slug across organizations.

Keep the thread sheet in a loading state until both queries settle. On a cold route mount, usePageCommentsQuery is disabled until usePageQuery returns a page, so thread is initially undefined and the sheet displays “This comment is no longer here” before data arrives. AllCommentsSheet cannot guard this separate route. Show the missing-thread message only after the page and comments queries settle.

Handle the expired-ticket redirect as a recoverable frame failure.

When apps/usercontent/src/index.ts redirects an expired ticket to APP_URL/page/<slug>, PageFrame cancels the cross-origin non-click request. This cancellation does not trigger onError, so PageDetailScreen can remain hidden behind its spinner. Detect this redirect and invoke the existing failure/retry path or refresh the ticket before returning false.

Cross-origin top-frame redirects remain blocked.

The origin check fixes same-origin redirects. A cross-origin top-frame redirect still falls through to line 82 and returns false, because navigationType is not "click" for a server redirect. If the signed viewUrl expires and the serving worker answers with a 302 to another origin, the WebView cancels the navigation and the user sees a blank frame. Allow non-click top-frame navigation, and keep openLink plus false for cross-origin clicks.

This case was raised in an earlier review and is still reachable.

Run the following script to confirm the redirect target of an expired view ticket:

#!/bin/bash

Add ...glassHeaderOptions to the organizations/index form sheet.

The mobile routing contract requires this spread for formSheet routes. Without it, the native header lacks the required glass treatment and close control.

Pass undefined instead of "" to OrganizationAvatar.

useOrganizations leaves activeOrganization undefined while its query is pending, but this row renders immediately. The empty string bypasses OrganizationAvatar’s "O" fallback and produces a blank avatar.

🩺 Stability & Availability | 🟠 Major | ⚡ Quick win

Block sheet dismissal while feedback submission is pending.

pick() captures the current selection, then calls clear() and router.back() after createThread.mutateAsync() resolves. If the toolbar closes the sheet during the request and the user opens another quick-feedback sheet, the first completion can clear the new selection and pop the new sheet. Use a synchronous submission ref in every close path. Reset it only when the mutation fails.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Assert that every alignment cell exists before comparing indexes.

indexOf returns -1 when a cell is absent, so [-1, -1, -1] passes the Set size assertion. The other alignment test checks only line lengths and does not verify these cells. Add an assertion that every index is non-negative before checking alignment.

This is the third implementation of page comments, and the thing worth raising is not that it is a third one, it is that all three now behave differently.

Desktop and web both do optimistic writes into the query cache and coordinate invalidation with an isMutating count scoped by meta. This invalidates on success and does no optimistic write at all. So the same action reads as instant on desktop and as a round trip on a phone, on the same page, in the same product.

To be clear about which way I would resolve it: this one is probably right. An optimistically created comment carries a client-invented id and timestamp that the server owns, so it has to be reconciled by refetch, and coordinating that refetch across five mutations is where the counter came from. Invalidating on success has none of that and is what the rest of the ecosystem does for creates, reserving optimistic writes for actions whose result the client can compute exactly, like a like or a resolve toggle.

The problem is not the choice, it is that three surfaces made it independently and landed in two different places. Whichever way it settles, the decision wants one home rather than three, which is the same conclusion the usePageCommentStore threads on #7312 reached from the desktop and web side.

Not a change request for this PR. Worth linking to that discussion so the mobile case is counted when it gets picked up, since it is now the third data point rather than a hypothetical one.

This change is right, and the reasoning in the comment is the good part: a terminal that ignores OSC 8 detects links from visible text, so truncating a URL cell produces a link that does not work rather than a shorter one.

It also has nothing to do with mobile pages and comments, and it is two small files with a test that stands on its own. Bundled here it waits on review of an 89-file feature branch; split out it lands today. Same for anyone bisecting a CLI output change later and finding it inside a mobile PR.

Worth pulling into its own PR unless there is a dependency I am not seeing.

than hand-resolved, so the shared msgids keep one translation each.
