Summary

  • Split-view layout for the pull-requests screen: a persistent, resizable list pane and a detail pane routed via <Outlet />, with collapse toggles for list-only or preview-only modes.
  • List view matched to the Figma spec (flat All/Open/Merged tabs, richer row visuals) and a fixed Filters popover (repository/author/review filters, author sourced live from GitHub contributors).
  • Lighter, consistent PR icon set (lucide/git-pull-request-arrow, stroke-width 1) across the app.
  • Merge (squash/merge/rebase), close, and reopen actions on the PR detail page via a single actions dropdown, each gated by PR state and confirmed before mutating; icons match the PR icon language (git-pull-request-closed instead of a bare X).
  • Detail header cleanup: removed a redundant near-empty toolbar row stacked above the header, tightened top padding, and aligned the header's bottom border with the list pane's toolbar border.

Test plan

  • Verified live via CDP against the running dev app: list/detail resize and collapse toggles, author-contributor dropdown, Filters popover, merge/close/reopen dropdown and confirm dialogs (cancelled, never executed against a real PR)
  • Confirmed header alignment and padding visually before/after each change
  • bun typecheck / bun lint on touched packages

Summary by cubic

Adds a split-view pull requests screen with a persistent, resizable list and a detail pane, plus in-app merge/close/reopen. Previously opening a PR unmounted the list (lost scroll/pagination) and actions weren’t available; now the list stays mounted and key PR state changes happen in-app with confirmation.

  • Adds a resizable list pane (300–720px, double-click resets), persists width and collapse, and provides list-only and preview-only toggles that are mutually exclusive and always reachable; selecting a row expands a collapsed preview.

  • List view matches spec: All/Open/Merged tabs over a single flat list; per-row icon, title, avatar/repo/#/branch, relative time (guarded), diff stats, and CI status; consolidated Filters popover (Repository/Author/Reviews) with visible values and an active-count badge.

  • Author filter: for a single repo, a searchable contributors combobox with avatars; falls back to free-text for multi-repo. Backend adds workspaceCreation.getRepoContributors (prefers gh api, handles 204, falls back to Octokit, cached 5 minutes, skips bots).

  • Detail header shows a state-tinted badge and a single actions dropdown. Supports merge (squash/merge-commit/rebase), close, and reopen with confirmation and non-destructive styling; success invalidates pull-request-detail and pullRequests, errors toast.

  • Backend: pullRequests.setState (uses gh pr close/reopen) and pullRequests.mergePR (Octokit; resolves repo live). workspaceCreation.searchPullRequests accepts mergedOnly and enriches rows with additions/deletions/headRefName via the existing GraphQL checks batch. Direct #N lookups now respect mergedOnly and viewerRelationship; schema rejects combining viewerRelationship with author/review (viewerRelationship not used by this UI).

  • State/routing: new persisted pullRequestsSplitViewStore; pullRequestsFilterStore adds mergedOnly, migrates persisted state (version 7), and serializes state=merged. The detail page removes its back button; the index route shows an empty preview with a list toggle. ResizablePanel now supports a disabled mode to avoid remounting on collapse.

  • Review/rollout

    • Validate: list resizing/toggle persistence; Filters popover values and count; single-repo author combobox and fallback; per-row CI status and diff stats; PR actions (merge methods, close/reopen, confirmations) and query invalidation; URL state=merged; cross-repo row selection correctness.
    • Environment: host-service requires an authenticated gh CLI for contributors and close/reopen; Octokit is a fallback for contributors. No database changes or manual migrations.

Written for commit 7b94bdf. Summary will update on new commits.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a split-view pull request experience with resizable list and detail panes.
    • Added open, all, and merged filters, contributor-based author filtering, and viewer relationship filters.
    • Added actions to close, reopen, and merge pull requests with confirmation prompts.
    • Added selectable pull request rows with repository, author, branch, status, and change statistics.
    • Added controls to show or hide the pull request list and detail preview.
  • Bug Fixes

    • Preserved filters and selected details when navigating or changing searches.
    • Improved pull request layout styling across sidebar and top-bar states.

Keep the PR list persistently mounted in a fixed left pane while the
route's child content (empty state or detail) renders in the flexible
right pane via Outlet, so switching PRs no longer unmounts the list and
loses scroll/pagination state. Adds a collapse toggle in the shared
layout (available on every child route, including the empty index) and
a matching rounded-corner/color treatment when the app sidebar is
collapsed. Detail page loses its now-redundant back button and its
full-browser-width centering, since the list is always reachable.

Tab bar, diff/review tabs, and author-filter combobox are deliberately
out of scope for this PR.
…oard

Ports the list-view portion of the PR-screen redesign (#6682)
onto the split-view foundation: All/Reviewing/Authored tabs, an "All" tab
dashboard grouping PRs by viewer relationship (Needs my review / Previously
reviewed / Authored), a two-line PullRequestRow (status-dot-on-icon, avatar,
diff stats, branch name), and a consolidated Filters popover (State/Repository/
Author/Reviews) replacing the old always-expanded filter row. Backend enriches
search-pull-requests with additions/deletions/headRefName via the existing
GraphQL checks call (no extra round trips) and a viewerRelationship qualifier
for the grouped sections.

Deliberately does not adopt that PR's list-pane collapse/toggle placement
(detail-page-only, via a separate non-persisted store) — this branch already
fixed that dead end by keeping the toggle in the shared layout. Also restores
a window-drag filler in the new top bar that the source PR dropped, and keeps
the Code/Review detail tabs, PRDetailHeader redesign, and getDiff/getThreads
backend out of scope for a later PR.
Replaces the role-based All/Reviewing/Authored tabs and grouped "my work"
dashboard from the previous commit with what the PRListView Figma frame
(node 3157-1146) actually specifies: All/Open/Merged state tabs over a
single flat, paginated list — matching the design system's source of truth
rather than the exploratory GitHub PR this was ported from.

Row layout now follows the frame precisely: icon, title, and a tight
avatar/repo/#/branch meta line on the left, with relative time and diff
stats stacked in a right-aligned column instead of inline after the title.
Drops the status-dot icon badge, which the frame doesn't show. The Filters
popover keeps Repository/Author/Reviews now that State is a primary tab.

PullRequestGroupSection, PullRequestsGroupedContent,
PullRequestsReviewingContent, and the viewerRelationship util are removed
as unused. The backend's viewerRelationship qualifier is left in place,
unused but harmless, in case a future PR revisits grouped views.
…modes

Wraps the list pane in the app's existing ResizablePanel (already used for
the app sidebar), so dragging the divider resizes it between 300-720px,
double-clicking resets to the 420px default, and the width persists.

Adds a second collapse direction: PullRequestDetailToggle, the mirror image
of the existing PullRequestListToggle, lives in the list's own top bar so
it stays reachable even when the detail pane is fully hidden. The two
collapse flags are mutually exclusive — expanding one always collapses the
other, since hiding both would leave nothing on screen.

Also gives the pull-requests search input a visible bg-muted fill instead
of blending into the pane background, via a new optional className prop on
the shared WorkItemsSearch component (left at its default elsewhere).
Repository/Author/Reviews each hid their label behind an @4XL:inline
container-query class, tuned for the old wide inline toolbar row. Crammed
into the new ~320px Filters popover, that breakpoint never fires, so every
row rendered as a bare icon + chevron with no indication of the selected
value and a large dead-space gap — the "weird" dropdown.

Fixes the two PR-scoped filters (Author, Reviews) directly. ProjectFilter
is shared with the Tasks top bar, which still relies on the width-gated
label, so it gets an opt-in `alwaysShowLabel` prop instead of a default
change. Restructures each popover row to `flex justify-between` so the
label and the (now-visible) value/chevron actually sit on one line, which
`space-y-1.5` around an inline label span never did correctly.
PRIcon: swaps the open/draft glyph for lucide's git-pull-request-arrow
(matching the Figma spec) and sets strokeWidth 1 on every state's icon
(open, merged, closed, queued) for a consistent, lighter line weight.

AuthorFilter: replaces the free-text-only popover with a searchable
combobox listing the selected repo's actual contributors (avatar + login),
backed by a new host-service procedure, getRepoContributors, that shells
to `gh api repos/{owner}/{repo}/contributors` and caches the result for 5
minutes per repo. Falls back to the original free-text entry — including a
"Filter by @<text>" option for anyone not in the top 100 contributors —
when zero or multiple repos are selected, since there's no single
contributor set to list in that case.
Replaces the flat spacer in the header with a state-tinted badge (Open/
Draft/Closed/Merged, matching PRStatusGroup's color language from the v2
workspace sidebar) so the header reads as complete instead of leaving a
dead gap between the PR number and the action buttons.

Adds a single actions dropdown, gated on state: mergeable PRs (open,
non-draft) get Squash/merge-commit/rebase options via the existing
host-service github.mergePR mutation (Octokit-backed, already used by the
v2 sidebar's own merge dropdown) plus Close; non-mergeable open PRs get
just Close; closed PRs get Reopen. Merge and close both confirm via an
AlertDialog with the specific PR title/method in the copy; reopen is
immediate since it's non-destructive. All three invalidate both the detail
and list queries on success so state updates everywhere at once. The
merge trigger gets a subtle emerald tint when active, echoing GitHub's own
green merge button.

New host-service procedure: pullRequests.setState (open/closed via
`gh pr close`/`gh pr reopen`) — no equivalent existed; merge reuses
github.mergePR rather than adding a duplicate gh-CLI-based one.

Verified live via CDP end-to-end for both flows (dropdown → confirm dialog
→ cancel) without executing a real mutation against the shared repo.
…e borders

The list-collapse toggle rendered in its own row above the PR detail
page's own header, stacking two near-empty toolbars. Render it inline
in the detail header instead (still rendered from layout.tsx for the
index route, which has no header of its own), tighten the header's top
padding, and pad the bottom just enough that its border lines up with
the list pane's toolbar. Also swap the close-PR action's icon from a
generic X to git-pull-request-closed, matching the other PR icons.

Merge Risk: 🟡 Moderate · up to 7b94b

This PR adds in-app merge and PR filtering behavior, but the current implementation can merge a pull request without confirming its latest head, return inconsistent results for direct numbered lookups, and reset list state when the detail pane is collapsed. The PR is not merge-ready until these bounded correctness and usability issues are fixed or explicitly accepted.

93-95: 🎯 Functional Correctness | 🔵 Trivial | 💤 Low value

Guard against an unparsable updatedAt.

new Date(pr.updatedAt).getTime() returns NaN for any value that is not a parsable date. The row then renders text derived from NaN. The value arrives from the host service and is typed as string | null, so the format is not guaranteed by this component.

Add the derived value next to hasDiffStat:

const updatedAtMs = Number.isNaN(parsedUpdatedAt) ? null : parsedUpdatedAt;

Consider tab semantics for the state selector.

The three state controls act as a single-choice group, but each button reports aria-pressed independently. A role="radiogroup" wrapper with role="radio" items, or a tablist, communicates the mutual exclusion and enables arrow-key movement. The current markup still works with Tab and Enter, so this is optional.

Use live project resolution for both pull-request mutations.

mergePullRequest uses nullable, cached project.repoOwner and project.repoName, while setState resolves the live GitHub remote from projectId. Add a project-scoped merge procedure that uses the same live resolution.

When hostUrl, projectId, or prNumber is unavailable, make setPullRequestState throw an error. Returning undefined triggers onSuccess and invalidates queries without sending a request.

The list remounts when the detail pane collapses.

The two branches place listContent under different component types: a plain div and ResizablePanel. React reconciles by position and element type, so toggling isDetailCollapsed unmounts and remounts PullRequestsView. This contradicts the comment on Line 46 ("the list never unmounts") and resets list scroll position and pagination state on each collapse toggle.

Keep one stable wrapper type for both modes. One option is to always render ResizablePanel and switch its width behavior in detail-only mode. Another option is to render the panel wrapper once and control only its class names.

Fixes 15 issues surfaced by review of PR #6710:

- Direct #N PR lookups now apply mergedOnly/viewerRelationship, matching
the search path, so they can't leak a PR into the wrong tab/grouping
- Schema rejects combining viewerRelationship with author/review
- Merge resolves the repo live (new pullRequests.mergePR procedure) instead
  of trusting a project's cached repoOwner/repoName, matching setState;
setState's mutationFn now throws instead of silently no-opping
- Selecting a PR row now expands a collapsed detail pane instead of
  navigating into a hidden pane
- The list pane stays one stable element type across detail-collapse
toggles, so it no longer remounts and loses scroll/pagination state
- Merge's confirm dialog no longer uses destructive (red) styling
- Restored per-row CI check status in the PR list
- Repo-slug label renders independent of the author avatar (was hidden
  for authorless/bot PRs)
- Guarded against unparsable updatedAt producing NaN
- Fixed cross-repo PR selection collision when no project is in scope
- Author filter: popover no longer goes blank on a failed contributor
fetch, live search strips a leading "@", and custom-option matching is
  case-insensitive
- get-repo-contributors handles a repo's empty (204) response instead of
crashing, and falls back to Octokit like its sibling procedure
- Minor a11y: Filters button announces the active count, state tabs use
  radiogroup/radio semantics

Move PullRequestsLayout into its own component folder.

layout.tsx now declares the PullRequestsLayout UI component. Move it to components/PullRequestsLayout/PullRequestsLayout.tsx and export it through components/PullRequestsLayout/index.ts. Keep route registration in layout.tsx.

As per coding guidelines, **/*.{tsx,ts} requires one folder per component and requires components used once to be nested under the parent components/ directory.

Implement the radio-group keyboard pattern.

Lines 62-84 set role="radiogroup" and role="radio", but the controls do not handle Arrow keys, Home, or End. Keyboard users must tab through each state instead of using standard radio-group navigation.

Use roving tabIndex. Move focus and call onStateFilterChange for ArrowLeft, ArrowRight, Home, and End.

🌐 Web query:

GitHub REST API pull request merge endpoint sha parameter exact head commit behavior

💡 Result:

When using the GitHub REST API to merge a pull request (PUT /repos/{owner}/{repo}/pulls/{pull_number}/merge), the sha parameter acts as a concurrency control mechanism to ensure that the pull request is in the expected state at the time of the merge [1][2]. Specific behavior of the sha parameter: 1. Exact Match Requirement: When you provide a SHA, GitHub verifies that the current head commit of the pull request's source branch matches that exact SHA [1][3]. 2. Conflict Resolution: If the head of the pull request has been updated (e.g., new commits were pushed) and no longer matches the provided SHA, the API will return a 409 Conflict response [4]. This prevents you from accidentally merging code that you have not reviewed or that deviates from the expected state [5]. 3. Optional Usage: Providing the sha parameter is optional [1][2]. * If you do not provide it, GitHub uses the current head of the pull request at the time the request is processed [1]. * If new commits are pushed to the pull request after your request is received but before it is processed, the merge will be cancelled to avoid merging unexpected code [1][3]. In summary, the sha parameter allows you to enforce that the merge only occurs if the source branch head is exactly what you expect, serving as a safeguard against race conditions where the pull request branch is updated between your review and the merge action [5]. You can typically obtain the expected head SHA from the pull request's metadata (e.g., via the GET /repos/{owner}/{repo}/pulls/{pull_number} endpoint) before initiating the merge.

Bind every merge request to the confirmed head SHA.

The project-scoped mutation omits GitHub’s sha guard. Add headSha to its input and pass it as sha. Expose the head SHA from getContent for the desktop caller and from getPullRequestDetail for the mobile caller. Pass the value through each merge flow. Apply the same guard to github.mergePR.

Make direct viewer-relationship matching match the search qualifiers.

needs-review uses user-review-requested:@me`` in search mode. Direct lookup calls the "review-requested" helper, which also matches team membership. `reviewed` then excludes team-requested pull requests, while search mode excludes only direct user requests.

Use a direct-user-request check for viewerRelationship in both implementations. Keep team membership only for the review-filter paths that require it. Otherwise, direct #N lookups return different rows from normal search.
