…flight clone access, expand ~ in setup paths - LocalGitCredentialProvider now defaults to getStrictShellEnvironment() (process.env fallback), matching every other gh call site: daemon-launched hosts (launchd, superset start) found no gh/credential helper on the launcher PATH and died with "could not read Username ... terminal prompts disabled" on private clones. - New project.checkCloneAccess query: git ls-remote with the exact env a real clone uses, classified auth | not_found | network | unknown, plus the host's gh CLI state, so clients can preflight before cloning. - User-supplied setup paths (clone parent dir, import path, create flows) go through a shared expandTildeAbsolute: expands ~, rejects relative paths that previously resolved against the daemon's meaningless cwd. The filesystem router's private copy is deduped onto it.
… setup, deep-linked modal, add-host guide
Triggered by a user report: cloning a project onto a Mac mini dead-ended on
an unexplained settings page, then failed with raw git stderr in a toast.
- SetupProjectModal: live clone-access check with per-cause fix-it panels
(sign in to gh on the host with a copyable command, install variant,
host-unreachable, network), inline classified clone/import errors instead
of raw toasts, and the parent directory prefilled to the target host's
~/.superset/projects. Checking state renders during any in-flight check so
rechecks never flash a stale verdict.
- "Set up project..." CTAs deep-link with focus=setup and auto-open the
modal; V2ProjectSettings shows a "Not set up on {host} yet" banner while
the targeted host lacks the project.
- AddHostGuide at /settings/hosts/new and as the Hosts empty state:
copyable install/start commands with a live waiting state that flips to a
connected card when the machine registers (polls in the background, since
the user is typically in the other machine's terminal). Entry points:
hosts sidebar "Add host..." and the device picker's "Add another
device...".
- classifyCloneError promoted from onboarding to renderer/utils and shared
with the settings flow; GhAuthDialog promoted to _authenticated/components
for the local-host sign-in path; gh auth command shortened to short flags
so it fits command boxes without scrolling; em dashes removed from touched
user-facing copy per house rule.
- Docs: remote-workspaces page points at the in-app add-host guide.

Handle Clipboard API failures.
navigator.clipboard.writeText(command) can reject when clipboard access is unavailable or denied. Line 36 discards that promise, so the renderer reports an unhandled rejection and gives no failed-copy state. Catch the rejection and show a failure indicator while keeping text selection as the fallback.

Unvalidated repoCloneUrl reaches git ls-remote. The new clone-access preflight accepts an arbitrary string from an authenticated client and passes it to git. Git remote helpers such as ext::sh -c '<command>' execute commands, and a value that starts with - is parsed as an option because no -- separator precedes the URL.

Picking a project that isn't set up on the chosen host no longer detours
through settings. The composer shows an inline plan ("usv-apps isn't on
Kiet's Mac mini yet. It'll be cloned to ~/.superset/projects first") with
an editable target directory and the access preflight running in place;
submit performs the clone as the first step of the optimistic create.
- SubmitArgs.setupFirst: the create pipeline runs project.setup (clone)
before workspaces.create, classifying failures via classifyCloneError
into the existing failed-create surface.
- ProjectSetupInline shared by both composer arms; useCloneAccessPlan
extracted from SetupProjectModal (which now consumes it) so the preflight
and parent-dir prefill live once; CloneAccessStatus and CopyableCommand
promoted to _authenticated/components.
- Repo-less (import-only) projects and cloud targets keep the settings
deep link; the amber "Set up project..." CTA remains only for those.
- ProjectOption carries repoUrl from the host fan-out.
…ding # Conflicts: # apps/desktop/src/renderer/routes/_authenticated/components/DashboardNewWorkspaceModal/components/NewWorkspaceScreen/NewWorkspaceScreen.tsx
useHostProjectIds swallowed the "Host is not online" error a booting host returns and cached null as a successful result, so needsSetup stayed unknown for as long as the composer was mounted and the inline clone notice never appeared once the host came up (seen live: mini host started after the app). The query now fails properly (React Query retries) and polls every 10s while it has no data; the create pipeline invalidates the list after an inline clone. Query definition extracted to hostProjectIdsQueryOptions so it's testable without a DOM.

superset-sh/superset useHostProjectIds.ts HOST_PROJECT_LIST_RETRY_MS
💡 Result:
In the superset-sh/superset codebase, useHostProjectIds.ts is a React hook (located at apps/desktop/src/renderer/react-query/projects/useHostProjectIds/useHostProjectIds.ts) used to fetch and manage the list of projects available on a host [1]. The constant HOST_PROJECT_LIST_RETRY_MS defines the delay interval used for retry logic when fetching these host project lists [2][1]. Specifically, this hook, along with associated utility functions, handles the retrieval of projects from the Superset host service, including invalidating and refetching cached project lists to ensure the UI remains synchronized with the state of projects and workspaces on the machine [1]. The Superset platform itself is an agentic IDE designed to orchestrate multiple parallel coding agents in isolated workspaces [3][4]. It utilizes a host service (a headless HTTP server) to manage these workspaces, projects, and terminals locally [5]. The use of retry constants like HOST_PROJECT_LIST_RETRY_MS is part of the system's broader approach to handling potential IPC or network latency between the desktop renderer and the local host-service daemon [2].

🌐 Web query:
site:github.com/superset-sh/superset/blob useHostProjectIds HOST_PROJECT_LIST_RETRY_MS refetchInterval
💡 Result:
The terms useHostProjectIds, HOST_PROJECT_LIST_RETRY_MS, and refetchInterval are related to the codebase of the Superset desktop and development tools, specifically regarding how host machines and projects are managed and queried [1][2][3]. 1. refetchInterval: This is a standard configuration parameter commonly used in React Query (TanStack Query) hooks within the Superset codebase [4]. It defines the frequency (in milliseconds) at which a query will automatically refetch data [4]. For example, in the usePRStatus hook, it is used to manage the polling frequency for GitHub pull request status updates [4]. 2. useHostProjectIds: While not a public-facing API, this pattern or variable name appears in internal logic handling the resolution of project identifiers across different host machines [3][5]. It is typically involved in the orchestration of project data when interacting with remote hosts or shared workspaces [2][6]. 3. HOST_PROJECT_LIST_RETRY_MS: This appears to be a constant used for defining retry logic when attempting to fetch the list of projects from a host [2][3]. It specifies the delay (in milliseconds) between retries to ensure resilience when the host server or network connection is temporarily unavailable [2]. In summary, these terms are internal implementation details used to handle data synchronization, polling, and retry mechanisms when managing remote repositories and host machines within the Superset environment [2][4][3]. There is no public documentation for these as standalone APIs; they function as internal configurations for the application's React Query and synchronization logic [4][7].

GitHub superset-sh/superset pull 3838 useHostProjectIds refetchInterval
💡 Result:
The query regarding GitHub pull request #3838 in the superset-sh/superset repository refers to a feature update titled "feat(host-service): tRPC query timeout + retry, fix hung file tree and git status," which was merged in April 2026 [1][2]. This pull request implemented a server-side timeout middleware for tRPC queries to prevent the renderer from hanging indefinitely due to slow filesystem or git operations [1][3]. Key aspects of this change include: 1. Server-Side Timeouts: A tRPC middleware was added to bound query procedures, with a default timeout of 5 seconds (which can be overridden using.meta({ timeoutMs })) [3]. 2. Client-Side Retries: The QueryClient was updated to automatically retry queries that fail with a TIMEOUT error code up to 2 times using linear backoff [1][3]. 3. Cleanup: The PR removed complex, bespoke timeout and retry logic previously found in hooks like useFileTree [1][3]. The specific hooks useHostProjectIds and refetchInterval are associated with other parts of the codebase [4][5][6]. The useHostProjectIds hook is used in the context of project management [4], and refetchInterval is a standard React Query option used in various hooks, such as usePRStatus, to manage data polling [5][6]. Pull request #3838 did not directly modify these specific identifiers; rather, it introduced the broader tRPC timeout and retry infrastructure that affects all queries using the workspace tRPC client [1][3]. Note: There is also a pull request #3838 in the apache/superset repository, but it is a legacy PR from 2017 related to removing an unused argument in a Python method and is unrelated to the superset-sh/superset desktop features [7].

TanStack Query v5 query state refetch failure retains data status error refetchInterval callback
💡 Result:
In TanStack Query v5, the behavior of a query's state during a refetch failure is designed to distinguish between "hard" errors (no prior successful data) and "background" errors (prior data exists) [1]. Data Status and Refetching When a query fails, the status updates to 'error', but the retention of data depends on the query's history [1]: 1. If the query has never been successfully fetched, it has no data. When it fails (or is refetched and fails), it typically remains in or reverts to a state where it lacks data, often triggering a loading/pending state during retries [1]. 2. If the query has previously succeeded, TanStack Query preserves the existing data [1]. In this 'background error' state, both the old 'data' and the new 'error' are available, allowing you to choose whether to display the stale data, the error, or both [2][1]. RefetchInterval and Error State The refetchInterval callback in v5 receives the Query object as its only argument (as opposed to data and query in v4) [3][4]. You can use this to adjust polling behavior dynamically based on the current state [5]: const result = useQuery({ queryKey: ['data'], queryFn: fetchData, refetchInterval: (query) => { // Poll more frequently if in error state, or stop polling return query.state.status === 'error'? 5000: 30000; }, }); Key Considerations - Failure Reason: While retries are in progress, you can access the intermediate error via the failureReason property, while the main error property is updated only after all retry attempts are exhausted [6][1]. - State Inconsistency: If you find that the UI flickers between loading and error states, it is often intentional behavior to allow users to see a loading spinner during retries [1]. If you prefer to keep displaying the error, you can manage this by checking the query state explicitly or using custom logic to prevent refetches on specific status types, such as refetchOnWindowFocus: (query) => query.state.status!== 'error' [1]. - Retries: Automatic retries occur by default (3 times) [7]. If you want to handle failures manually, you can set retry: false and control the flow via your refetchInterval callback or other triggers [6].

Continue polling after a background refetch failure.
TanStack Query retains prior data and sets query.state.status to "error" after a failed refetch. The current data check stops polling and leaves useHostProjectIds with stale IDs. Stop polling only when query.state.status === "success".

Reset the parent directory when the target host changes.
prefilledRef resets only when enabled becomes false. If the user changes between eligible hosts, the hook keeps the first host's absolute parentDir. setupFirst can then clone on the second host into a directory derived from the first host. Reset and prefill the directory when hostUrl changes. Add a host-switch test.

github superset-sh/superset AddHostGuide.tsx v2Host.list "Waiting for the host to come online"
💡 Result:
The message "Waiting for the host to come online" associated with v2Host.list and components like AddHostGuide.tsx appears in the context of the Superset agentic IDE (superset-sh/superset) [1]. In this ecosystem, v2Host.list is a tRPC procedure used to enumerate hosts (devices) accessible to an organization and user [2]. The "Waiting for the host to come online" state typically occurs in the UI when the application is attempting to establish a connection or verify the status of a registered device or "host server" [3][2]. Key context regarding this flow: - Host Management: Superset uses a "host server" (started via superset start --daemon) to manage workspaces, terminals, and agents on a machine [3][4]. - v2Host.list: This procedure was introduced to allow the UI to display user-friendly device names instead of raw machine IDs when selecting a target for workspaces or terminal sessions [2]. - UI Integration: Components such as AddHostGuide.tsx or related settings pages guide users through setting up these hosts [5][2]. When a host is not immediately reachable—for example, during a wake-on-LAN process or while a daemon is initializing—the UI displays a waiting status to the user [6]. If you are encountering this in the codebase, it is part of the orchestration layer that verifies device availability before proceeding with workspace or terminal operations [2][7].

Returning undefined will cause the query to enter an error state [3], which can lead to unexpected behavior, such as infinite fetching loops if the error causes a component to unmount and remount [3]. isError and Data Relationship: TanStack Query v5 uses a discriminated union for the query result based on the status field (pending, error, or success) [4]. - When status is error (isError is true), the data property typically holds the last successfully resolved data (if any) or undefined if no data has been successfully fetched yet [1][5]. - When status is success (isSuccess is true), the data property is guaranteed to contain the result of the query function (or initialData) [1][5][6]. Using Initial Data: If you want to ensure data is defined from the start and avoid loading states, you can provide initialData [7][8]. - When initialData is provided, it is persisted to the cache [7][8]. - It is available as the data property even before a background refetch completes [1][5]. - Since initialData is persisted to the cache, it is recommended for static or known-good data; for temporary or placeholder content, use placeholderData instead [7][8]. Best Practices: To safely handle data, rely on the query's status or boolean flags (isPending, isError, isSuccess) to narrow the type of the data variable [6][4]. TypeScript will correctly narrow the data type once these checks are performed [6][4]. Example pattern: const { isPending, isError, data, error } = useQuery({ queryKey: ['key'], queryFn: fetchData }); if (isPending) return
data is defined and isSuccess is true return Citations:

Based on the available documentation and codebase for the Superset developer platform, there is no public-facing API, function, or configuration parameter explicitly named "initialIdsRef" or "AddHostGuide." The term "initial" and "host" appear frequently in the context of Superset's infrastructure and documentation [1][2][3][4][5][6]: - Initial State: The platform uses various "initial" states and references to manage application lifecycle, such as initial working directories (initialCwd) for terminal panes [7][8][9][10] or initial host resolution [1]. - Host Management: Superset uses a "host-server" (started via superset start --daemon) to allow CLI and desktop applications to manage remote workspaces, devices, and host access settings [5][6][11]. The platform manages these hosts through a central host service and settings UI [1][3][4]. - Guides: Documentation is organized into guides like "Getting Started" [2][5], "Remote Workspaces" [6], and "Host Server" [5]. It is highly likely that "initialIdsRef" and "AddHostGuide" are internal identifiers, temporary variables, or misremembered internal codebase references rather than documented features. If you are working within the Superset codebase, these may be specific to a private repository or an internal version of the desktop application's state management [7][10].

💡 Result:
The file path apps/desktop/src/renderer/routes/_authenticated/settings/hosts/components/AddHostGuide/AddHostGuide.tsx appears to be part of a desktop application's source code, specifically following a standard file-based routing convention common in frameworks like React Router or TanStack Router. Based on the file path and similar components found in related developer ecosystems: 1. Purpose: The component AddHostGuide is likely an instructional UI element—a "guide"—designed to assist users in the process of adding a new host to the application [1]. Similar components in desktop or web-based management interfaces often provide step-by-step instructions, code snippets, or configuration requirements to help users integrate external services or devices [1]. 2. Context: The file structure suggests it is a modular component located within the settings module of an authenticated route, specifically under the hosts management section. This is consistent with patterns found in modern desktop applications (such as those using Electron or similar frameworks) that implement granular, component-based settings pages for managing server or device connections [2][3][4]. 3. Related Implementations: Similar UI patterns are frequently used in projects to handle the complexities of onboarding or host configuration, such as: - Providing integration cards with unzip, install, and launch flows for supported hosts [1]. - Including copyable code snippets or configuration commands for the user [1]. - Offering "danger-zone" or management actions (rename, delete) alongside setup guides once a host is added [2][3]. Because this is a specific internal file path, it is likely proprietary or part of a specific project's private codebase. If you are working within a project, you can typically verify the exact functionality by examining the component's imports and its usage within the parent route file (e.g.,../index.tsx or../_hosts.tsx).

💡 Result:
The cloudTrpc.v2Host.list operation refers to a tRPC procedure within the Superset platform ecosystem, specifically designed to retrieve a list of registered hosts (machines) accessible to the authenticated user [1][2]. Key details include: * Functionality: It provides an organization-scoped list of hosts, typically filtering for those to which the user has membership or access rights [1]. * Implementation: It is part of the v2Host tRPC router (located in packages/trpc/src/router/v2-host/v2-host.ts) [2]. This router was introduced to manage host-related operations, including access control (adding/removing members and setting roles) [2]. * Context: Within the Superset architecture, v2 APIs generally handle CRUD and management operations for entities like projects, workspaces, and hosts, often deriving authorization context from user sessions [3]. * Usage: It is consumed by various interfaces, including the CLI and SDK, to allow users and automated systems to identify available infrastructure before performing further actions like listing workspaces or running agents on those hosts [4][5][6]. While documentation often references the shorthand host.list or hosts_list (for MCP/CLI contexts), cloudTrpc.v2Host.list represents the underlying tRPC path used in the codebase to interface with this endpoint [5][1][2].

site:github.com/superset-sh/superset "initialIdsRef" OR "AddHostGuide"
💡 Result:
The terms initialIdsRef and AddHostGuide are related to the codebase of Superset (superset-sh/superset), specifically its desktop application, CLI, and host management architecture [1][2]. initialIdsRef appears in the context of React-based frontend development within the apps/desktop directory. It is used as a MutableRefObject in React hooks (such as useTerminalLifecycle.ts) to manage state, track references, or handle component lifecycles, often in conjunction with terminal or tab management systems [3]. AddHostGuide (or references to adding hosts/host guides) relates to the documentation and UX flows for managing device access and environments in Superset [1][2]. The system uses a host-server architecture where a daemon manages workspaces, ports, and agent processes on a machine [2]. Documentation such as apps/docs/content/docs/cli/host-server.mdx provides instructions on setting up this daemon, and UI components like AddMemberDropdown and host settings pages allow users to manage members and host access [1][2]. In summary, initialIdsRef is a technical identifier used in the React/TypeScript codebase for state management, while AddHostGuide refers to documentation or instructional components related to the platform's host server and device management capabilities [1][3][2].

Preserve registrations that occur during the initial list request.
If registration completes before the first cloudTrpc.v2Host.list response, initialIdsRef records that host as pre-existing. Later responses cannot classify it as newHost, so the success state can remain hidden. Capture the baseline before registration begins, or use a server-side registration timestamp or token.

The composer's clone-on-create notice was a bordered amber box with a nested amber panel. It's now a single status line under the prompt: "Clones to ~/.superset/projects on Kiet's Mac mini first. ✓ Access verified", path click-to-edit (dotted underline, truncated when long), "Set up manually" right-aligned. Only an access failure adds a second row: one sentence, the command as a chip, "Check again" as a link. CloneAccessStatus grows an `inline` variant for this; the settings modal keeps the panel. CopyableCommand gets a `sm` chip size.
The inline setup notice under the prompt is gone. When the picked project isn't on the picked host, the base-branch slot (meaningless before the clone) holds a ClonePlanPill instead: "Clone to ~/.superset/projects" with a green dot once access is verified, a spinner while checking, or an amber "GitHub sign-in needed" / "No access to this repo" / "Host unreachable" label. Its popover holds the clone location, the access result with the fix command when there is one, "Check again", and "Set up manually". Nothing is added to the composer in the happy path beyond one pill in the row that already exists.

With a host selected, projects that aren't on it used to carry an amber
"Not set up on this host" warning, which read as a blocker. Creation now
subsumes setup, so those with a remote show a muted clone icon ("Will be
cloned to this host"); the warning stays only for repo-less projects that
have no remote to clone from and still need the settings path.

Step 2 used to say "superset auth login && superset start --daemon" and
point at the docs for the API-key alternative. The guide now creates a key
when it opens ("Host setup <date>", revocable under API keys) and shows one
command with the key and organization inlined, so the other machine never
needs a browser or a trip to settings. Falls back to the browser login if
minting fails.

Every open of the add-host guide minted a key, and my own run left five behind. The guide now revokes its key on the way out unless the command was copied (button or selection) or a host connected; a mint still in flight at unmount revokes its own result on arrival, and a dev double-invoked setup resets the abandoned flag so StrictMode can't delete a live key. apiKey.create now returns the key id alongside the key. CopyableCommand reports intent before the clipboard write so a refused write still counts.
Two gifs and three stills of the flow this branch changes, captured live against a second host-service. Sits next to the existing desktop docs artifacts so the PR and the plan doc can point at something that renders.

main's per-window organization work bans reading the login session's activeOrganizationId in the renderer, and its guard test flagged the guide. The minted key now carries the org this window is showing, so adding a host from a window switched to another org registers it there rather than wherever another window last pointed.
…at a host still needs The add-host guide minted an account-scoped API key on mount, so opening a settings page created a credential. Cleanup was a client-side unmount effect, which means a crashed renderer left a permanent key behind, and the "was it used" test was a copy listener on the whole page. Generation is now an explicit step. That deletes the guessing entirely — abandonedRef, keyUsedRef, revoke-on-unmount and the page-wide onCopy are gone, because a key someone pressed a button for is wanted by definition. The guide is four steps, with step 3's command box present from the start, masked and non-copyable, so pressing Generate visibly unlocks it rather than materialising a new box. The waiting spinner is gone: nothing is in flight on this page while the user is in a terminal on another machine. When a host that wasn't in the list at load registers, we navigate to it — the host is the confirmation. Detection is best-effort (a host that registers before the first fetch lands in the baseline), so step 4 states where it will appear regardless. Host readiness moves onto the host's own page, where it stays true after onboarding. probeGhCli is promoted out of the clone preflight into runtime/github and exposed as host.githubCli, so "can this machine reach GitHub" is answerable without naming a repository. The page shows at most one banner, cascading: a machine we can't reach can't report its version or gh state either, so those are unanswerable rather than failing. That also settles the case where the header says Online while the worktree field says "Host unavailable". Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_014qAaURB59JoCB3ME11QHKt

The enforcement scan only finds hardcoded JSX text, so strings passed as props or returned from helpers slipped through in directories main has already marked converted: every readiness-banner title and body, the copy-disabled tooltip, and the clone pill's failure labels. Banner now takes nodes rather than strings, which puts its copy back in JSX where both the scan and translators can see it. Catalogs carry the translations for all sixteen locales.
Main removed the new-workspace modal (#7353) and shipped its own HostServiceSection, so this drops PromptGroup.tsx and DashboardNewWorkspaceModalContent rather than reviving them, and reduces HostReadinessBanner to the GitHub CLI check that section doesn't cover.

and the expand-tilde extraction that only resolve-repo needed.
Also dropped:
- apiKey.create no longer returns `id`. The guide stopped auto-revoking keys
when minting became an explicit button press, so nothing reads it, and it
was a public API surface change with no consumer.
- CopyableCommand's `size` prop. Its one caller was CloneAccessStatus.
- 1.8 MB of demo GIFs and screenshots under docs/artifacts, five of six
showing the clone flow and the sixth showing the auto-minting guide that
no longer exists.
classifyCloneError stays: it de-duplicates a toCloneError that was already
inline in onboarding/project/page.tsx on main, and its two gh commands are
shared with GhAuthDialog. Its messages now go through the catalog rather than
being hardcoded English, which is what the move made visible.

Regenerating with --clean removes the 28 messages per locale that belonged to the composer half. The catalogs are now purely additive against main (+66 lines per locale, no deletions). Two fixes fell out of the regeneration: - "Not set up on this host" had lost its translation in every locale. The branch had re-keyed it at some point; reverting ProjectPickerPill brought main's English back but not main's msgstr. Restored from main. - classifyCloneError's three messages were hardcoded English. They were hardcoded on main too, inline in onboarding/project/page.tsx, but pulling them into a shared util is what made them worth fixing rather than copying. Now i18n._(msg(...)), translated in all 16 locales. All 16 locales report 0 missing. Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01N82o7z1xerW5qJfKf6DLqD
probeGhCli fell back to a bare process.env when the login-shell spawn
failed. A GUI-launched host inherits launchd's PATH, which has no Homebrew,
so `gh` raises ENOENT and the probe reports not_installed on a machine that
has gh installed and signed in — the banner would then tell the user to
install something they already have.
getToolEnvironment is main's helper for exactly this ("Env for spawning the
user's own tools (git, gh)"): same login-shell env, but its fallback repairs
the macOS PATH instead of trusting the inherited one.
Verified on this machine: gh installed and signed in reports authenticated;
a missing binary raises ENOENT (-> not_installed); a real gh invocation that
exits non-zero raises code 1 (-> unauthenticated). Those are the only two
things the classifier branches on.

Scope changed as of 8f2a673: the clone-access preflight half has been reverted to main and this PR is now just the add-host guide plus the GitHub-readiness banner. Diff against main is 40 files (23 code + 17 catalogs), down from 80. The four CodeRabbit reviews above were written against the previous scope and mostly point at code that is no longer in the diff. |
Settings → Hosts with no hosts says
No hosts yet.and stops there. The install/auth/start steps live only in the docs, so adding a second machine means leaving the app to find them. This replaces that empty state with a guide, and answers on a host's own settings page whether it can reach GitHub — before a clone needs it rather than during one.
What's here
Add a host (
Settings → Hostswhen empty,Settings → Hosts → Add host…, or the device picker's Add another device…)Four steps: install the CLI, generate a key, start the host, come back. The key is minted only when the button is pressed — the earlier version of this PR minted an account-scoped API key on mount, so merely navigating to a settings page created a credential. It also needed cleanup machinery to guess whether the key had really been wanted; pressing a button needs none of that. Until a key exists the paste command shows its shape with a
<your-key>slot and copying is off.The guide polls the host list while it's open and navigates to the new machine's page the moment it registers. The host itself is the confirmation, which beats a success screen you then have to click out of.
GitHub readiness on a host's settings page
host.githubCli(new) probesgh auth statuson the machine. If gh is missing or signed out, a banner says so, with a button on the local host and a copyable command on a remote one —HostServiceSectionalready covers version, install source and reachability, so this only covers what that section can't know. What was dropped
This PR was two features. The clone-access preflight —
checkCloneAccess, the composer clone-plan pill, setup-first workspace creates, the project setup modal — has been removed and reverted to main. It has never been executed once: it needs a second reachable host, and main has restructured the composer underneath it twice since it was written. Reverting it keeps that risk out of a change that can be checked on one machine in ten minutes.Reverted:
CloneAccessStatus,ClonePlanPill, useCloneAccessPlan,ProjectSetupNotice, the PromptGroup/NewWorkspaceScreen wiring, the v2-project setup modal,workspace-creates,project.checkCloneAccess, and theexpand-tildeextraction that onlyresolve-reponeeded.Reviewers: the four CodeRabbit reviews on this PR predate that split and largely discuss code that is no longer in the diff.

Its three messages were hardcoded English; centralizing them is what made that worth fixing, so they're through the catalog now."Not set up on this host"had lost its translation in all 16 locales — the branch re-keyed it, and reverting brought main's English back but not itsmsgstr. Restored from main.Verification
probeGhCliexercised directly on macOS: signed in reportsauthenticated; a missing binary raisesENOENT→not_installed; a realghexiting non-zero raises code 1 →unauthenticated.
